Pedal start, unlikely. Trans? Well, if you drive like a grandmother, maybe. You can break one with the stock 216 without trying too hard.
Not easy to hook up to a 250. A 235 or 261 is much easier and looks more "right" too. Plus the starter will fit.
The 47 bell housing will not bolt up to a 250 eng and the push starter won't work on a later model starter. I just removed a 250 from my 48.
i have a 235 motor in my 47 but i would like to keep the pedal start and i was planing on getting a spare motor but it was a 250 motor and i have a trans that's open drive out of a 61 chevy Biscayne so i need to find a 261 chevy motor them to keep it pedal start
A 261 is the same length as your 235. A 250 is about 1-1/2 inches longer and might cause radiator interference problems. Pedal start on a 250 would be a real pain although the 250 should bolt to the transmission you show. A 261 will work without moving the radiator andkeep your starter setup. If you don't mind moving the radiator you can use a GMC 270 or GMC 302 and keep your pedal start.
