Just bought a 261 short block that was machined by a top local shop and was put together by a guy in his garage. It has new .60 over pistons, cam, bearings and oil pump. He rebuilt it 2 years ago for an older guy while the guy went looking for a head for it........the old guy found all the parts, but before dropping them off, he passed away. Unfortunately his widow sold all the other pieces with his disassembled 54 pickup. This engine was listed in the ad as a 1954 235.....the seller did mention it was a truck motor, but when I got it home the casting number 3769717 translates to a 58-62 261. I want to put this thing in a 54 belair convertible and was wondering what anyones thoughts are... My plans are to make the rest of the car original, but now perhaps I'll think about hopping it up some. I'm a bodyman that never learned engine mechanics. Any ideas? By the way, I paid only $150. for it . Bob
She'll run that's for sure. They used to use them in the midwest in dirt track racers. Made the V8 guys shit! Good luck!
