I'm trying to nail down the interior for my '54 Ford mild custom and need some feedback. I was planning on running an all-white interior with a body colored (copper) dash. I love the look, but the more I think about it, I wonder if I can "live" with it. I bought this car because I need something kid-friendly as I drive the car a lot in the summer. I guess I could throw on some seat covers for daily use if needed. In searching for ideas, I looked at one of my fav customs of all time - the Mark Morton Merc. I love the black and white interior. If I added black inserts in the seats, it would be a lot more livable. What do you all think of a black and white interior in a copper colored car? I also have thought about using a copper and white interior like the pictures below. The copper color seen in this pics is the exact paint color I'm using. Thought?, opinions?, Comments? Is either one more period correct for the car?
I would personally go with the copper and white. I just got my Lincoln doen and the outside is maroon with a gold roof, the interior is white with maroon inserts. I think it goes good together. I think as long as you dont go out of control like pink and gray interior it should be fine with the black and white. Take a look at Valley Customs Polynesian. It was a shade of purple on the outside with a yellow and white interior.
So you asked for opinions. A black and white interior would look okay I think (some SIMPLE black and white striping on your copper dash, hood, and deck lid would tie it in nicely), but a copper and white (actually off-white) interior would look waaay better. I always liked a color matched interior, makes the whole car look more well thought out. Some of the more interesting ones I've seen lately have the insert done in something other than plain vinyl, like a pattern or "frieze" from old upholstery. But if your worried about the kid thing (I hear you), I would vote for off white and copper vinyl w/ copper carpeting. But, what do I know?
like both, two tone more tradional but always loved all white...... "Kid Friendly" go all copper with white welting.....thats not bad idea either, the floormats look cool with the white pipeing
Thanks for the opinions. I hadn't really thought about all copper - I think it would be a little too dark.
I would go with all white door panels, headlining and white seats with copper inserts. You could put clear vinyl over them if the kids are too rambunctious.Copper colored carpet.
I think it would be a smart idea to do an interior that doesn't include the outside color, so that you could change the paint color later on if you wanted to and wouldn't be stuck with a color that you absolutely hate. So go with like white/black and it would go with any color combo in paint!
Copper and off white for sure and make sure it's not top s***ched with white or off white thread cuz the thread gets dirty real fast. Roadstar's '40 interior
Nice Squigy, I see the copper garnish moldings on yours. My Ford has a large metal molding on the top of each door that tie into the dash. With this and the garnish moldings It might be too much copper on the inside???
NICE!!! Denise, I met you at the NHRA Reunion in B.G. this year (Blue '34 Hudson) and the only cookies you had were Lorna Doone's. Now I hear you won't have any at Autorama - Sooner or later, I WILL GET A COOKIE! Good luck on that kitchen.
I remember chatting with you. Glad to hear your coming to Detroit for the Autorama. There might be a treat or two so make sure you stop at the Meet & Greet in the Single Finger display area.
white is actually alot more forgiving than a guy would think. i do alot of boat upholstery repair and 90% of boats have white. just dont let the kids have g**** juice in there and it would be fine.
I don't think you could go wrong with either color scheme, but I like the copper and white. Good luck with whatever you choose. Gary
Just incase anyone was wonderin' what I decided: ****ty pics - but I'm happy with the way it turned out.
Just A though, I had my interior done last year in two tone gray, not your colors, with the headliner light gray and the seams done in dark gray piping. sort of old school, looks great.
