Hot Rods Lyndwood bantam dragster build....final assembly..with pics

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by eastcoast57, Feb 6, 2010.

  1. Since January, our bantam body dragster has been in full thrash mode for Detroit Autorama...The body is still at the paint shop but my old man showed up here in Cincy with the chassis yesterday to begin final assembly...

The engine is ending up to be a 394 Olds...RacerBrown cam, full balanced...Weiand intake with a 6-71 and a 2 port Hilborn...

We tried our hardest to ressurect this poor butchered Lyndwood Welding company chassis...and it turned out to not be a half bad job!

Heres an unmolested chassis for comparison...

And our original after its face lift...

Check the scattershield made based off original pictures...and polished firewall...

Those ribs on the back of the block above the bellhousing had to go to clear the scattershield....so we got crazy with the cut off wheel....

Beautiful job. Sure doesn't seem to be much metal in the roll cage, how big is that tubing? Those guys were BRAVE.

  4. Put the engine together....minus some internals just for a mock up photo...it will have a polished 6-71 case with an Isky front drive...and put the stubbed headers on there to try and start to get an idea for some pipes....

How are you planning on getting past tech with the rollbar and non-fully enclosed scatter shield? I'd LOVE to see that thing blister 'em down the quarter!
