Who has actually modified an intake to fit the 429 caddy,I would like to talk with you.Welding and machining buddies of mine can help me.Lets chat.
Their is a company in New Mexico that has an adapter that alows you to use a Ford intake on the 472 and 500 caddy motors. I can't find the link on my home computer, got it at the shop. You can probably google it...........ruggs
The 429 has much tighter bore pitch than the 472/500 and Ford 385 at 4.5625" (same as Chrysler 392, slightly smaller than Ford FE, Olds, Pontiac). Try comparing intake manifold gaskets with any of these, and look at these pics for similarities: http://victorylibrary.com/mopar/edel.htm Read my article: http://victorylibrary.com/mopar/alternate.htm
Dr, I belive that 49-67 manifolds will work ! That is 331cu. in. to 427cu. in. Try http://hotrodcaddy.com/?p=17 for more information ! I have 55 and 56 factory 2x4s , and a Detroit Engineering 2x4 ! Good Luck, Sonny
Try Chris from http://www.cad500parts.com - he's a HAMBer and has a LOT of 429 stuff: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/member.php?u=23341 I have a 429 in my '60 Cadillac. Helpful hint - you can use a pre-'63 390 intake on there, provided you have spacers. They're the same - the heads are just further apart on the 429, hence the need for a spacer. No shit. ~Jason Here's a GREAT thread, by the way - http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144066&highlight=searching+for+429+parts
I have a 1967 429 which after researching is a one year only head and intake set up.as I understand it the 67 heads are squeezed in compared to the 66 heads,This explains Why my 390 ,365 cast iron 2 4bbl manifold is too wide for my set up.It is off far enough to negate any port work and angle milling, not enough meat in the casting.Looks like its run log manifolds or build one from tubing.
