I heard A was car and B was "pickup"/farm and C was commercial? But I don't don't really know. Are you saying I am not someone special? ...
I think I was with Mark when he was talkin to an old timer about ration stickers. He was sayin "A" was for average folks, "B" was for a Dr. and "C" was for the police chief or mayor. But then again not all old timers have their stories straight. Johnny
So what would dad use when he drives his mileage makes to work? "DP", Death Trap? I guess as long as you save a buck it is ok?
If you're cleaver enough you could copy those pictures and make your own... or wait till the East Vs. West run and get your own custom ration sticker!
Slid that new front end under her. Here are some pics: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=473155&page=3
I guess it has been a while since the last update, so might as well do one. So I got the new front end under it. (dropped my own axle, reversed my own spring, tossed on 40 juice brakes). put a chrome shift tower on it. different rear end (T spring, 40 brakes) got master cylinder mounted, had to do a little fab work to make it work. ran all my lines. Painted up some 40 wheels. mounted up new white walls. picked up some 46 merc caps. Still have a few more things to do, but mostly just having fun driving it for now here are some pics I just took.
I even talked my girlfriend into helping me She is installing door check straps. Here is a couple shots of the master cylinder setup. Used the stock service bar,and welded an arm on to push on the linkage. works really well, and is simple.
It's awesome!!! Who cares about your brother's **** when your stuff is so much better! I'm loving that thing!
What you need to do is use it to haul parts to and from swap meets and such. I can just picture the back all full of early ford ****. That is killer lookin.
I used to see lots of 'A' Coupes with 'pickup boxes' around the Santa Clara-San Jose area, as it was a major Ag center before the transistor took hold, and the Hippies arrived in VWs, and the Yuppies...well, you guys know the rest... I think the 'A' deck lid has been the prodigal panel of all Ford sheet metal. Wish I'd kept some of them that I found over the years!
I was about ready to get out the chain saw to bob it down, but then someone informed me that that bed is actually part of an old horse drawn wagon (I think you may have told me you kind of thought it was?). I think I am going to either take the whole thing out, or leave it. The history is kind of neat, as I'm sure you know
i like it the way it is but would love it without the wood bed sides....still either way its cool as hell ..the wheels and caps combo are sick
