International HAMB Meet London UK - Pix!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Mike Zenor, Dec 6, 2004.

  1. Here's some pics of the fun at the Ace Cafe in London last Wednesday nite, where the fambly and I traveled to meet some the local HAMBstabulary and get a snootful of nitro fumes. Big shout to 32Limey and Matts33 for driving all the way in, and hope to see you blokes again soon.

First up - wicked A coupe with low-tech cold weather radiator...

That's a Ford Mk 1 Zodiac (or Zephyr, I get them mixed up). A very popular car in the UK for shoving a small-block into.
    Cool pix, btw.

  13. One more from Oxford... when Limeys talk 'Old School,' they mean OLD school -- like 13th century. [IMG]

  15. Damn fine joint, the Ace Cafe... should have seen all the bikes that were parked outside.

By the way - if Matts33 sees this - we had to leave before I had the chance to get you that free beer. I will be back over the pond very soon to make good.

Its practically impossible to tell a zephyr from a zodiac. The only mechanical difference was a slightly higher compression ratio on the zodiac.Built by ford UK 1951 -1956 powered by 132 cu in ohv straight 6.They built convertables as well

Awesome pics, thanks Mike. Must have been an awfully spendy trip, the dollar's so low right now that Europeans can buy our stuff cheap, but a cup of coffee in London costs us $10.

Yeah MK 1s are cool. I bought a '52 MK1 Consul for $50 from a farmer. Me mam had it sent to the junkyard right before I moved to the States....sad.
I've got '57 MK 11 convertible in pieces. It's one of only three known in the USA, it's a left hooker sold new in Arizona. Everything's done on the car pretty much. It just needs painting, upholstery and assembly. I've got piles of NOS stuff that came with it.

Say, are the Harris hooligans still building monster street Zodys?

Nads its funny you should ask that, as that mk1 pulled away from the Ace that night we started talking about the Harris boys & their Ford powered mk1's.
Apparently the younger generation of Harris's are still involved in racing, i can just remember them with 105 Anglia's & mk1 Escorts.

It sure was a good night and it was nice to meet you and you're family Mike. My ears are still ringing and the faint smell of nitro still bringing tears to my eyes. I've got to get me one of those slingshots!

Yes, I thought I recognised the plate on that one.

Always liked those Mk 1,2 and 3 Zephyrs and Zodies - my first car was a Mk3 Zodiac.

Shame I missed the event, maybe next time.

    Regards

    Jon'.

The black 58 with the 'vette grille does it have hydraulics?
I remember one in Custom Car for sale ads from 2000 or 2001, it said: "wife forces sale", i thought it was sad :( I think its the same, was low, black, vette grille etc...
The Zeph/Zodi are cool and i agree they beg for the custom treatment, althou you rarely see them in those clothes.
