i had his info from a good while ago, through cl***ified ads in hemmings...he was inthe U.S. and reproduced old auto mfg signs and oil company signs like white rose, chalmers motor cars, etc....porcelain repros, and the large ones were damn near 4 ft across if i recall correctly

i did a google and came up flat.

    any help would be aces..........

    thanks,
    Derek

I remember him also. I will certainly watch this thread because I always said that when I could afford to buy from them, I would. Some of that original stuff just can't be found and I am getting old pretty fast it seems. Somebody chime in please.

If i'm not mistaken, the guy lives/lives in Kansas. A friend of mine used to wheel & deal in gas pumps, signs, etc. I think he knew him. I'll see if I can get a hold of him.

    ...
    that would be great
    ...

I'd love a Chalmers motor car sign like he used to advertise, it's my namesake

  7. Not sure if this what you are looking for, but this guy has some nice stuff and makes limited runs of each sign. He is located near Pittsburgh, PA. Check it out at

neat stuff, but not the guy...man, i hope he's still producing these things, like I mentioned before, he would send out a few 4x6 pics of his signs, large diameter like 3-4 feet across, nice repro's....and rare / odd logos.

    Anyone?

Steve Jelf and I think he was in Oklahoma. I don't know if he is still around, but I had a couple of large diameter Hupmobile signs from him around 1998.

You could try Cherokee Porcelain Enameling Corp., 2717 Independence Ln., Knoxville, TN 37920 Tel. 865 637-7833

The only link I could find to a Steve Jelf in OK was this one - you might try contacting them to see if this is the same guy:

just and update, for anyone who is following the thread, one site sporto motoring claims 15% off order when you use the word "heart" in the checkout.

not sure if they have the sign i'm after but free shipping and if this discount works, neat.

well folks, the good news is this is the same company, bad news ( for me ) is that they have discontinued the production and sale of the Chalmers Motor sign......guess I'll just have to try and make one
