I don't agree with this ****ogy or reasoning,

it's more like the paper boy yelling "extra extra amazing story read all about it" about old news

how about doing a search, if it's already been posted but you think it's worth sharing again bump the original post back up.

    A real life example.....

I am tuning my 6x2 holley 94's and am having an issue that I could use help with. I have searched and read ALL of the holley 94's posts on the HAMB that I could find, some of them 4 or 5 times (this has taken me many, many hours). The information available is second to none - very excellent.

However, I have not found any discussion of my specific issue. Because Holley 94's have been discussed so many times, I don't plan on posting a help topic as I'm sure that I will get flooded with "do a search" reponses by the peanut gallery......

  9. Thats easy. You just start your thread with "I searched and didn't find the exact answer to my 94 problem.............here is what I need help with.." And guys will gladly help out. :)

Ahhh, that's idea. I might try that. I'll end the post with "any concerns with my post beating a dead horse should be directed towards Tman". ;)

Hey, it would be a fun experiement to try what you are suggesting and see if....

    a) I get "do a search" comments anyway, or
    b) get directed to a post that addressed my problem that I overlooked, or
    c) get information to get my Holley 94 problem fixed!!

    Mike

P.S. I am understanding why some people run fake carbs on 6x2 intakes......I swore I would never do that!

  11. I bet at least one person, maybe myself, will also do a search and post a link to help you out though.;)

And there will be one person that just had the exact same problem and reply WITH part numbers!

    Thats the HAMB

Bad Rod, it sounds like you are trying to solve a problem which is absolutely 100% On Topic.

That is when you tap into the Knowledge of the People here on the HAMB.

Please do not stop Posting stuff like that.

Here's a novel idea - why not do a "How To Search" thread. I just did "how+to+search" and came up with nothing. So before why don't some of you that know the tricks of using the search feature do a thread on it? I hate to ***** about something that we may be able to help fix with some education.

  15. We have had them, I did one myself several years ago:p

And they end up in the Q&A section that nobody reads but lost newbies anyway:D

just for ****s and giggles I searched "55 chevy rollover". got 4 hits, 3 unrelated to the video and one with the video from 2005.

so even if I did obey the search police I would have posted it had I not seen it before.

I understand the intent of this thread, but...if somone has only been on the HAMB for a few weeks and had NOT seen the "55 rollover" thread, then how would he/she know to search for it?

Having someone freshly post a link allows those who have not seen the link, or wouldn't even know to search for such a link, the oppurtunity to view it.

I mean heck, if you spend so much time (not directed at anyone imparticular) reading the HAMB that you know a topic is a re-post, just skip by it. No one is making you click the mouse to open it up.

I agree that some stuff is viral and is reposted too many times. What gets me is the poor ***les.
    >>>This is amazing! Check these out! This guy's lucky! etc. <<<
Even if they have never been posted before, at least use descriptive ***les so it can be found in a search later. The ***le should be descriptive, not a teaser...
If you have been here and done searches, you will know that you must have 4 characters so 34 and PU will not work. Spell out stuff in the ***les so it can be found later (1934, pickup).

Look at the statistics, we have Threads: 294,123, Posts: 4,220,610. With all of that it can be a ***** to find the one thread you remembered seeing last year. You throw a bunch of the threads Metalshapes is talking about in (and they are there in force now) it becomes very hard to find GOOD usable information. Not to mention the treads on s**** prices. Reposts should be deleted, or is there a way to combine the threads?

Its unfortunate if good On Topic stuff gets pushed down the pages by stuff that doesnt matter.

    Thats all...

I'll move this Thread to the Q & S Forum, because thats probably a better place for it.

Also to make sure this Thread itself doesn't push Good On Topic stuff down the pages...

I say it's about time someone brought this up. I don't know about you but if I see that Utube about the female cast of Charlie's Angles having *** with a donkey on the steps of the White House one more time I'm going to puke.

Don't forget the do you know your engine test!

  28. In that case it is easy. That video has been all over the internet for YEARS on every car and drag racing forum there is. A non carguy coworker even got it in his email this week and called to my office "you gotta see this 55!" Some one with a little sense would have a pretty good idea that it has been posted on THE LARGEST MOST COMPREHENSIVE hot rod forum on the internet:rolleyes::)
