  1. First, when I bought it (hihihi) :

But that is not enough :

So modification of the front of the frame :

    Better :)

  2. Rear modification :

The result at this time :

The car will lost 1 or 2 more inch(es) because I will remove a section of crossmember lower than the frame.

After, top-shop and fordor into tudor conversion

    To be continued :)

I just noticed you havent done anything to the wheel wells.....you running a small tire in the back right?? I raised mine to the top of the 1/4 and i run a 27" tall tire , when on the ground in the rear my tire is a the top of the 1/4......just an observation not criticism !!:)

Great work! What rear link set-up did you go with?I also bagged/notched a '54 chevy and my '55 caddy. I think I would go with a beefy 3-link intead of a tri 4-link next time (see the guys 55 caddy on the ground floor thread) The tri 4-link works, but theres a lot of twist on the bags and pinion when you have un-parallel/un-equal/length arms, and alot of travel on a triangulated set up- the back seat area gets in the way, so you can't make them parallel? Just wondering

I made a frame for my buddys 51 and the order was to lay body. I cut 1.5" or so off the bottom of the frame, re-capped the bottom frame in 3/16" steel and z'ed the mustang2 up like 4" with a gambino notch. I had to re-cut the bottom of the gambino notch like an 1" more. Car lays body front to back and no channeling done to the floor, just a new trans tunnel. It has 25" tall 3" whites on 15" rims.

  9. Many thanks to all for your coms ;)

What do you want to say? Where do I have to strengthen exactly ?

You can't see that on pics but wheel wells are cut, I forgit to take pictures of that modification.
I have 670/15 Firestone tires (rear and front), Coker announce 28.58" diameter on his website.
My tires are on the top of the quarter also;)

I'm not sure at this time but I think I will choose the triangulated 4 link with a good alignment of bags when they are deflated.
I didn't know the 3-link but I've just seen pics and I will think about that :)

Do you have pics or a link that I can follow to see that ?

    Many thanks

Nevermind on my comment, you already did it, I based my response on what I saw on the 5th pic from the top and obviously did not look too close cause on the 11th pic down it shows the gusset of which I was refering too...Looks like you started with a solid platform thats for sure!

the Fatman ultra low crossmember would sit about 1" higher with no frame modifications other than installing the crossmember.

Cool , i was wondering!?!?!?! I run a 670-15 in the front and a 750-14 in the back, which is 27" tall.....I didnt want to put stress on the 1/4 to crack the paint or damage anything . when the rear is at the lowest the top doesnt touch my wheel well.

Ok, so I see another top hat frame cut and welded. Seems like there are a lot of folks doing it, and a lot of folks saying that it is a no-no because the frame was designed to flex a little and can crack at the welds. So, which it is? Ok, not OK, or does it just depend on who ya ask? Work looks great btw.

Now this is what I like to see! Cut it up and move it until it is where you want it. If it can't decapitate an ant, it is not low enough.

  20. Thanks again for your answers ;)

Yes I know but 1" is not enough :D
Here it's 3" lowered and like that I can ride very low without cutting the cups and while keeping a proper geometry.

    I understand.
When all modifications will be done on the frame, I will check if the tires touch quarters but not at this time.

I will reinforce the front frame by one piece side plates of the firewall until the radiator crossmember and on each side.;)

    :D:D:D

  26. Nice job with the minimal trunk floor work. Creates less work for you later.
