I bought a set of front and rear window felts from Vintique for my '37. The top and sides are split.....like 2 halves....what did the original top piece look like? surely there must be something that stops the gl*** from closing up against the metal? Thanks, Bill
If I understand the question correctly, what you missing is the window channel. Drake and Carpenter both illustrate it in their catalogs.
I have the channel and felts that go down inside the door, but what I'm referring to is at the top of the gl*** where the gl*** hits the top of the door. The felts they sent, which are prebent to shape etc are like an inside piece and an outside piece, where I had expected it to be a "U" shape so that the gl*** when all the way up would close against the felt, not the steel of the door itself......if that makes any sense.
If I remember right they didn't have a "U" channel. There should have been a roll of sticky felt about 1/2" wide included in your kit. The felt sticks to the top inside of the door to protect the gl***. Hope this helps.
I bought a set the same as you have and thought the same thing. I did however see a 37 last weekend with "U" channel or bailey channel fitted to all 4 doors and it looked neat enough.
Thanks for the replies. My kits did come with the roll of felts but I hadn't opened it, I thought it was glazing tape. I have to rebend my preformed felts a bit as I chopped the roof a bit, but they'll work fine. Bill
