Wanted to ask a question of the members, hope this is how it is done. I have a Model A frame, and access to all original Model A running gear as well, front end, rear end, brakes, wheels, the whole works. I also have a C8BA flathead and transmission, from a pickup. Being as the engine will be kept stock can I use the Model A running gear with no worries. The car will be for touring around in the country where I live, not interested in speed, just the fun of driving an old vehicle. I guess the question boiled down is, can I run a stock flathead V8 and transmission in a Model A? are the brakes and rear end up to the extra 60 h.p. Thanks for your time. oso
Moidel A is a lot whimpier than a V8 part. that said why not? You build it , drive it, personally i wouldn't break it deliberately and I don't think you would either. I was told my roadster was structurally incorrect years ago. I haven't gotten around to fixing it so I wll run it a few more years.
Best to upgrade to v8 trans. thats why you see people use 39 toploader and s 10 t 5s model a trans are pretty wimpy.
Oso.... the search engine is your friend. There have been a gazillion threads on this topic, and everything you will possibly need to know has already been dealt to many times. To start you off..... search for threads by Gashog. He did a build thread and included a great many very helpful pics.
