Hey I just had some axles made up at dutchman. took old axle in told them I wanted the same thing but shorter and go to 9" ford c clip eliminater. Well long story short of everything they did not machine down the axle flanges to match axles I took in to them. then they wanted to charge me 50 bucks to press off bearings and turn them down. Whats with this place is it because they are the only ones in oregon/washington so they can be this way.
i've had them do lots of stuff over the years. always been very happy. clear communication is the key.
Yep, you have to tell anyone that is doing work for you exactly what you want and it's best to put that in writing. Most machinists in a shop like that are going to do exactly what is written on the work order.
well when you tell them what you want and leave a axle with them it seems that they should know what to do. Especially when you tell them that you want the new axles the same as the one you left. Dont think it was the machinist fault just the salesman that handled it. But all is well I have a new ford 9" that fits great and is a better rearend.so all in all I think I came out ahead.
Why would you bump a post when most of the replies have told you you were wrong and weren't clear enough in the first place, especiaaly as you claim you came out ahead. Need to rant?
his point ?...might be that he wants to know what others thought? and everyone thinks he he was wrong?...2 replys, yep that must be everyone LOL
I have dealt with them for 15 years and they make great axles and do awesome work. They will not do any work without a signed work order so that are no problems. They also do not do any work for free, which is a good business practice.
I sent my axels back three times to get the correct brake space and axel length. I supplied them with writen dimensions on my order and they still got it wrong. The last time I drove there ( 11 hour round trip) with my drums, backing plates and axels to get it right. I won't deal with them again. HemiDeuce.
