5.0 mustang - A/C elimination

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Roger 37, Feb 12, 2010.

  1. As a chevy man I need some Ford advise. I am installing a 93 5.0 out of a mustang in a 1950 Jeepster Conv. I don't need the A/C. Is there any other options that look better than using a elimator pulley that sticks up in the air a mile above the engine. A short belt??

yes there is an a/c eliminator bracket-pulley. Ford motorsports used to have them. You might also try upr products in fl. they have all kinds of 5.0 mustang stuff

  3. I know about the elimnator pulley but I don't like the way they stick up so high and out of place in front of the engine. I've seen a couple of 5.0s that had no pulley so there must be a shorter belt... I hope

some washers and a thick enough bolt to let the bearing ride on with a wax nut on the back worked great ..drilled some holes in the square stock and thats was it i think it cost me 30 bucks

You could reroute the belt with a short belt, but remember if you put it in a conventional way the water pump is reverese rotation. so you might have to put a standard rotation on it. Be carefull with that.

Hmmm I know for a fact that in 87-89 you could order a Mustang 5.0 without air because I used to sell them I was already at chevy in 93 but I bet you could then too.. You could either walk into a ford parts dept and have them show you the exploded parts diagram, or hit the local junk yards bound to find a stripped model 5.0...

  9. Lets see pics of that Jeepster. I've had my eye on one I'd love to build a hot rod out of.

This is the aluminum bracket that Ford used on the A/C delete Mustangs.

If there is no power steering use stardard rotation water pump, with a 67 mustang alt bracket.

  12. I checked out the relocater bracket .. 37 bucks ... plus a new belt... sounds like the way to go. I contacted the company to ask for the belt number.

How does one send pics of the 50 on a reply??..

  13. This is the 50 I'm building... I have a complete 93 Mustang GT to use as the donor. I have a Tang II front suspension and a Fatman crossmember ready to go. Suprisingly the Jeepster weighs the same as the tang. Should be fun.. cause it's a 5 speed...

I have another complete stock 50 Jeepster that's in decent shape .. for sale if anyones looking...

  14. for some reason the pic didn't come thru.. try again

I bought a jeepster in 66, swaped in a 364 buick, ford wagon 9 in, T 85 OD trans and wford wagon front brakes. later a 401 buick-auto, Small block ford 4 speed then a body swap onto a FC jeep truck 4 X 4 ch***is , 350 chevy and BW od trans. It's now on a 78 blazer ch***is. The blazer was a lot of work. The jeepster is a lot of fun.
