A couple weeks ago a friend who know I like old cars told me where there was a "stash" of old cars. I knew the area (about 3 miles from my house)and could'nt beleive there were any old cars there that I didnt know about. So I went there and was surprised to find about 50+ old cars, including nine 55-57 Chevys. There was an older gent there who was very friendly and showed me around. It is his personal collection of old cars that he has acquired over many years. Stuff "can be" for sale but we have not struck any deals yet. I found several 331 Chrysler hemi engines inside one of the buildings he uses for "restoration" work. He is mostly into Chevrolets, no Fords or flatheads. He is going to allow me to come back in the spring when he "cleans out" his engine building and a trailer that has "old Model A Ford type stuff". Cool junk, hey? Enjoy the pics! :D

Excellent- be good to the older gent, sounds like he is being decent with you. I am sure there are those out there who would look look to take advantage. That "older gent" will be us soon enough.
I am sure some of those old guys get crotchety for a reason.

Might help the situation if you told him you'd be willing to help him out if he ever got **** doing something that required extra hands. I did that with an old timer around the corner when I first moved here and built my house. I helped clear out some brush and junk in the corner of his property and he sold me an old mowing machine I wanted for yard art for $20. The guy across the street said he had tried to buy it for years and it wasn't for sale. One night the wife and I were watching television and there was a knock at the door. The old boy asked to speak to my wife. He had brought her an antique ****er churn he said he found in his ba*****t. He said I had told him she was into antiques and knew if he died his relatives would just sell the stuff to get as much money as they could and he wanted someone to have it that would appreciate it. His mother had used the churn when he was growing up and you could tell by the way he talked it meant a lot to him. He wouldn't take anything for it because I had helped him out. My wife said the the churns like the one he gave her usually went for $75-$150 at antique sales. It's now one of her special antiques.

No, not in Martinsville. I live in Granger, In and the stash is about 3-4 miles from me, not even close to you, sorry!

I saw three cars on the inside that he working on "restoring". All three were 4-doors, one 55 and two 56s. They were just OK, nothing outstanding. I think the gent does his old cars just for his own pleasure and sets his own standards for quality, which is cool with me. He may have others that were not at this location.

I also think that old ch***is in one picture would be a good start for a hot rod. I will ask him what the price is on that. He claims he didnt pay much for any of the cars, but then the selling part may not reflect that!

I've often wondered how many old cars are hidden in ba*****ts, garages, woods, etc, that I drive by everyday and never see

Yeah, I think some "techie" on the HAMB needs to invent a gieger-counter device that is activated by old-car stashes!

There's a professional car "hunter" (seeks out mostly Mopars, but other rare cars as well) that haunts the East Coast I've spoken to a few times at local swap meets with high dollar Mopar projects in tow. He has a dog trained to recognize the smell of old gas and oil. Mostly following tips, he drives areas looking for old barns / buildings. When he sees one sitting that may hold promise, he sends his dog to investigate. When the dog returns he does a series of "tricks" to communicate he's found a promising smell. The "hunter" then investigates further.

That 'frame' is a late 20's-early '30's Chevy frame.
    I'd be interested in it.
