I'd paint it the most inky gloss black I could find 3in www and caddy sombreros. Nothing beats black and chrome.

The thing about a '36 3Window is the love/hate look of the back half of the car. Same car can look great in a 3/4 view, but the side view sometimes looks like a pickup cab pulling a custom bed, all depends on were you stand.

  5. I bought my '35 Phaeton that had been sitting in a garage since '69. The old guy had gathered tons of stuff to update the chassis, CE MII, parallel leafs, sbc mounts etc etc, thankful he didn't butcher the car and put it all in. Yeah it all got sold off. I just dropped an axle yesterday for it,(squished it to 5" drop) its got juice brakes already. Got an adapter from a good friend in Cali (thanks Tim!) Putting a '39 trans and pedals in it (thanks Jethro!) Lowering it as low as I can get it but keeping it drivable, chopped the posts and w/s, and leaning em back too. Keepin' it simple.
For your car I'd do it totally different then many a '35/'36 build these days. No skirts, low low, and something different then "me too sombreros"(everybody runs them!)
Congrats on getting a damn iconic car! Now lets see some pics:D

    Here is a 3w I'm working on, It's not mine......has a 2 1/2" chop. Sadly it will end up as a streetrod.....

Nice work! The cut lines somehow look like they are in different places when compaired to other 35-36 chopps. Not that there is anything wrong with them, just wonder how many different ways there are to cut one. [IMG]

Good lord, do you have to post that same complaint about 3 windows on every 35/36 thread? Seems like you've been bitching about that for years. Give it a rest.

  15. The first thing I look at on a chopped '36 3-w is the top of the doors....if this is "flattend" out, I think it's crap...there needs to be a slight radius/flow like an un-chopped car...IMO...

  16. i look for the same thing..... i need to do some homework and see whos going to chop my car

  17. lol maybe hes anti-3 windows.....

Marcel's chops are the most copied and do look very nice but if I had a choice it would be this one, just somthing very different about it that is pleasing and can't put my fingure on it. The rear slope of roof line looks like it has more "lean" to it?

It does have more lean, Chrisp split the sedan roof into 3 pieces and filled in the gaps...

Chopped is an understatement. Made something from nothing is more like it! Here's the thread if you haven't seen it:

And yes, I believe he is in France now? Here's a pic of it at GNRS (from Rikster's Fotki pics).

use a 36 dash in it. There is a reason god gave them those dashes to begin with. They are the best looking dashes ever made. I even used one in my 32.

Yes, I own and run my own shop.....however, I did not chop this 36. I wish I had, i would have done it a little different. Also I hate "fixing" someone else's work. But, work is kinda scarce, so I have to take what I can get...
