anyone have any luck with getting scratches out of a safetygl*** windsheild? they are minor, not deep enough to hang a fingernail on but they are clear as day. i remember eastwood sold a buffing kit at one time. just wonder if its worth the try to buff them out before having it replaced. i just dont know what to try and buff it with ?
I used the Eastwood kit on some sandblast damage on a windshield. Worked pretty well. Definately not for deep damage, but cleans up minor stuff. It's called cerium oxide, and it's probably cheaper to buy somewhere else, as most of Eastwood's stuff is.
Cerium oxide with water on a felt buff mounted to a buffer. Cover the car, that stuff gets everywhere! Form a paste, spend some time working the paste into the felt fibers. Work form the scratches and away, too much much work on the scratch alone will make a lens. Spread out the work to make it less noticeable. If you can catch your fingernail in the scratch, better off looking at new gl***. I worked auto gl*** for 15 years.
Eastwood sells a kit to remove some small light scratches but if the are deep well you know what you have to do then . Go to a gl*** place and ask if they can be buffed out or not . That will save you the time and money of buying the kit from Eastwood . RetroJim
