Is my 1965 Superstock Plymouth gonna be able to get in as made before 1965? It's an original 426 Wedge 4 speed with two four barrel carbs max wedge exhaust. Im going to be running it in Nostalgia Superstock this year as well and would like to bring it to the HAMB after seeing several of the other superstock type vehicles appearing last year. It will be running original type bias ply tires and stock rims, definately fits in with the HAMB theme. I attached the only picture I have of the vehicle with me at the moment.
It'll be there! Barring no issues between now and then but if it aint there I will still be there in a mopar! This is the backup plan!
Wish I could get em both down there! I just got another project started, too. A '65 Coronet, Im thinkin it might get a straight axle altered wheelbase treatment, but it may take a lil longer to get completed. Ill post some pics of it soon.
Which Ford you talking about??? They're all done now..'32 tudor...'29 A roadster and the '63 Galaxie Super/Stock. Where in the HELL have you been hiding???!!!! Seems like it's been a long time since we drank a beer together. Let me know where you are going this summer so we can hook up....Andy.
Hey Heberlingmopars; In 1963 I was 14. Down the street from us was a fella named Larry Heath. He always had something interesting in his driveway and since I had loved all things automotive since birth, I think, I was always hanging around when he was outside. I figured he was just putting up with a somewhat bothersome kid from down the block. Then one day he asked me if I wanted to ride down to Flint (Mich.) because he had business there. I said sure and we were off. What happened that day, I believe, was a major event concerning my constant involvement with and my undying love of the automobile. Once in Flint we pulled into one of the many Dodge dealerships that operated locally. We parked and walked into the showroom and there it sat, a BRAND NEW BLACK WITH RED INTERIOR 1963 DODGE POLARA 426 RAMCHARGER. How cool could this be? I remember being speechless because although I had seen them in magazines, I had never seen one in person. But this was just the beginning of cool. This one had been ordered for Larry and we were taking it home that very day! I can still see the round steel bases that mounted atop the carbs in place of the air cleaners when you raced, packed in the trunk along with some other gadgets that were factory supplied but could'nt be installed until the owner took possession. And the m***ive engine with that ram intake. Outa-sight. And oh man, gotta love the push ****on Torque Flite. Well, enough, but the next 3 summers were like magic as I spent every hour that Larry was home at his house. Any stupid little thing that he asked, I was eager to do. We became good friends and in return, he and his wife took me to every drag race they competed at for those 3 summers. SS/A, 7 inch slicks, 12.14-12.20s, in my mind it is still the fastest, finest car I have ever seen, bar none. And to this day I can feel the cam and hear the rumble of the fenderwell headers not to mention the bounce of the front end with the spring spacers that all the guys used back then for weight transfer. And best of all, I got to hang around and be involved! What great memories your engine picture has brought back. Thanks, RB79
