So I found a really nice 1947 Lincoln coupe project. The absolute only rust it has is a few pin holes on the front of the driver side door. I am seriuosly considering buying this car as a project. It has beautiful lines. The front ends could use some custom treatments but other than that I think lowered with a different grill and I would have a very tasteful mild custom. Would anyone care to share a few pics of custom coupes that may be out there? Rikster, do you have any?? I have seen a few street rodded ones and I could do without those. Thanks alot. ******Knuckles
Only late Lincoln I remember seeing customized was a chopped top 4door sedan that was offered at a Houston Northline Shopping Mall Swap Meet back in the 70s. It came from Beaumont/Port Arthur area and was found in an upholstery shop under those piles of material and junk where it had sat for many years after the guy didn't come pay for and get his newly upholstered chopped top 46-48 Lincoln SEDAN!
Oh, I´d definitely get that. Those things have a lot of potential. Did this a long time ago. Based on an earlier car obviously, but the roof should be very similar.
I would totally build a cl***y custom out of one of those.. they are just begging for it IMO. They remind me of a 40's cartoon car. I got this one off here in the primer nats thread I believe..
James, Thanks so much for that! That's pretty much what I would like to shoot for if I get it. Thanks for all the replies so far. The responses have been what I thought they would be. More pics please!! ******Knuckles
Here is an oldie closely resembling James D's Photoshop dream... ofcoars not a 47 either... Not a Coupe.... but perhaps you get some ideas from this very nice Coachcraft built 46 custom Older rear
Rik, Thanks for the wealth of customs pics! Your pics have been such an inspiration to me and many others. I knew that if anyone had pics, you would. Thanks again!! ******Knuckles
Well, I took Heather to show her the car and she really likes it. I believe we will get it. It comes with two sets of bumpers and two complete sets of stainless, new window gl***. The one thing it needs is an engine and transmission. It, of course, came with a V-12. I have a friend who has a rebuilt one that he may let go of. What other engines would you run? ******Knuckles
Same year Olds grille might be kind of nice if you can't get that Caddy off Deltrone. As far as engines I think something flathead no matter what. Straight eight, V-12 or Caddy flathead. All kind of expensive to rebuild I am betting....just throw some jb weld on 'em an run it!!! I like this one but the photoshop that James D is pretty awesome too!!! The thing with these for me (as well as straight 8 cars) is the front is sooooo long. The right restyling and design work should visually shorten the front which is sort of counter intuitive to auto design but I feel like these cars need it. How's the '61 Buick coming?
This doesnt really corespondent to the custom question, but my fam had a 46 when I was younger. those ****ing cars are Tanks with a captain T. Beautiful vehicle. When we sold it a guy came to get it with a 90's van and a bumper pull flatbed. I swear that lincoln lifted the front tires of the van of the ground when it got on the trailer. Don't know how that guy made it home safe. anyway... thats all i have to add
I bought a 47 club coupe about 5 years ago. No rust, no dents, beautiful body, engine stuck. I bought a nice engine and it still sitting. Shame to let it sit, getting old and can't get motivated to work on it.
If it turned out anything like this rendering, expect me to steal it. That's awesome!!! Front end looks nice and short too!
