Here are a few tubs I've come across. The '32 Chevy was $2500, Can't remember how much the Willys was, and the deuce was $3500. Sure wish I still had them.

Phaetons are so cool! I always loved the 33-36 years. I realy love the way the dash/cowl all blend and roll together and the way the tops of the doors roll. They are very artfully styled cars.
I'll take mine full fendered, black with black top, slight drop in front, rolling on painted and chromed wires.
Spyder,
Here's my 2-Door Phaeton Deluxe. To my knowledge, 30/31 is the only years that Ford offered a two door phaeton.
One BITCHIN Pheaton!!

Would love to, but I can only offer my Falcon and $100 cash. I'd be cold driving to work until I could save up for my heated flight suit, but I'd be happy!

Big Cheese 327, the chassis is a stock 30'. It was a cheap easy build and the kids have a blast going for rides.

This has been sitting in a friends' well/pump shop for a long time. 36 Phaeton V8 RHD. from Argentina. I'm not sure how to make these pictures bigger.

A couple shots of my old 32 (#4) tub and a good friend's #513 A tub from Cincy on our way to Bonneville 2008...both Ohio built and driven hard.....The #7 is also a good friend and Cincy area car...the #3 is my dads vicky style two door beater....we've had endless fun with these tubs....Don't ask about all the numbers...it's a Cincinnati thing and it's confusing:D...I goofed and sold my #4 car to Jim Busby in SoCal who now uses it as a pit car on the Salt....Tubs are killer! Here are a few more tubs. The '11 T model I found in a shed has 3355 actual miles on it, a '32 tub I had for a short time, a '31 tub I had for a shorter time, and another '32 I had from Argentina.

Some great looking pictures! but the ones that stand out the most are the restored ones. Phaetons are such classy looking cars, their beauty shows when restored(or resto rod).
Just my opinion!

Yeah...nothing says "HOT ROD" more than a resto-rod phaeton...nine foot tall windshield, cowl lights, horrible stance, spare tire mount, strolling through a parade with a bunch of heffers hangin' out the back of it, all the while sporting some kick ass 14" tru-spokes.....NOT! That was cool in the 80's...not now. LIke you said, just my opinion:D

Funny, since I didn't live through the era, I don't usually use the term "resto rod" to mean rootbeer metallic with black fenders, tru spokes, and raised white letter tires. I would say "Seventies-style resto rod" for that.

I could see building a '29 phaeton with a resto'd body, SBF/auto, and a modest lowering over '35 wires with black-wall Firestones. I would call that a resto rod, and I think most would agree it would be a cool, nice-looking car.
