Okay! This is the problem. I have a 53 Chevy pickup truck that I am trying to slam, lower, put in da weeds, scrape da ground. But i'm also trying to stay original you know like 3on the tree, straight 6,no power steering.I like to know i'm driving a truck & I also don't want a s10 colum sticking out of my 53 dash.
So i'm trying to get ideas on how to get her lower.I have ran into more hhmmmmm how should I say this HOT RODDER KNOW IT ALL'S that don't want to help you unless it's their way or no way!!!One guy says use a drop axle, another guy says no one knows how to bend one right.
Just want to hear from some guys that have done one of theese trucks & how you did it...Help a brotha out.
P.S. it may sound hypicritical but I am bagging the truck thats the only thing that wont be original underneath.

Yup, My dropped axle from Sid is very nice. He has a website with a tech article that details dropping a truck just like yours.

I talked to sid nice dud but hes out of stock. Im stuck right now & I need to get this truck back on the road. This is my driver.

  6. The Raven runs a drop axle in his '54. I personally think it sets perfect. But it doesn't scrape.

And new flash they been dropping axles since way before GM ever even thought about Advanced Design. I'm pretty sure there is more than one person out there that can drop/bend one.

Ive called ten places they will not do TRUCK axles ???????????

  8. If you get one from Sid then get the rebuilt king pins. Worth the money to do it once instead of doing it later. Have you called him and asked how long it would take for him to do yours? I'm considering going this way and putting on 1/2 spindles since mine is 3/4T. Then I have to figure out what to do for the rear end. I think it's the way to go. If you aren't going to run it as a truck you could look at going to a mono spring but I have read that there have been issues with that. I"m in the same boat as you and trying to figure out the same stuff so keep posting as I'm trying to read everything I can to get the right setup as well. I now need to know how to put a new rear end in that will accept 6 lug and be 1/2T so I can afford the brakes. :) Good Luck

  9. Will be very interested to see what you come up with for the dropped axle too as my 51 desperately needs to be lower!! I like the stance of yours now, has it been lowered at all already? Sids website is great with all the pics and how to....

  11. Yep, the 4" dropped axle from Sid did it for me with 2 leaves out of each corner and 4" blocks in the rear.

  12. Old guard did you have to put the rear axel over the top of the frame? I believe that mine is under the frame so when I put the blocks in it will raise the truck. I have a 3/4T and still need to figure all of this out. Thanks
