Looking for any history on this 63 Rambler Wagon raced in the south. It says 1978 Record Holder on the back of car? HELP!
I hope you find the info you're looking for. Wow... that is the sickest Rambler wagon i've ever seen. Very cool. -Chris
Sure thought someone would recognize this car.Whoever built this car did a great job welding rear doors shut and finishing exterior that still looks great, lightening the whole body making a true lightweight drag car for this era.
I'd really like some pics of the inside and under hood area to see what all was done. I'm sure it was back-halved to get those big tires under the back! I'd start by looking for Dave's Paint and Body or Dave Dutton in the town the car came from. The "record" is probably from a local track, which might also help with info on the car -- maybe someone at the local tracks will remember it.
I'll try to get pics today of inside. It has been back halved has a full cage, narrowed 9 inch, straight axle, wheelie bars, ladder bars.I bought it in KC but it supposedly came from Texas. Thanks
I think that one was on ebay a month or so ago. I looked for some info at that time, but came up empty. I hope you trace it back to its glory days! Good luck.
Yes it was on ebay that is where I bought it and I would like to take it back just like it was then HAMB drags is in the future
Could have possibly been a drag car from earlier, then re-Incarnated to its current form? just and idea
Its possible but it sure appears to have been done for a long time. The guy I got it from said he was told it was sitting for 19 years when he got it.I've been trying to get help from him as well.
The car looks cool, and if it were mine, I would also want to know if it had some big history, but if not, just rebuild it and make some.
When you get me some more pics I'll run an article on it in my little AMC rag. There are a few guys from Texas who subscribe and one of them may recognize it. You can e-mail me info and pics direct if you like -- farna AT att.net
