so i have a 351W and the dizzy has 2 vacuum hoses coming out of it. one goes straight out, the other goes 90*

which one goes to what type of vacuum?

Typically, the straight-out one (on the end of the vacuum canister) goes to ported vacuum (above the throttle plates), while the 90* one goes to manifold vacuum.

Having said that, I've seen a couple variations...try it.

Ernie's da MAN on the Ford stuff...he's right...again! [IMG]

(The distributors with the two vacuum lines are 70s era smog items...best to replace 'em!)

Although, I have seen many guys plug one and just run either the ported side or the manifold side, as per their preffered method of tuning...but I always liked to run the older single point Ford distributors with the vacuum advance run to MANIFOLD vacuum, ala GM style. It provides better part-throttle and cruise driveability, along with a smoother idle.
