I remember seeing a heavily customized red late 30's/early 40's car some years ago. It was at Porky's regularly and at shows all the time. Then it just seemed to vanish. I can't remember what make/model it was, but it was nice. Anybody remember the car and know what happened to it?

    I remember that too.

  7. i think when the cops started clamping down on the 8:00 o'clock parking ban,and the newer ricers and late models started moving in,they prob felt squeezed out...i remember the car being purple in the 90's,that guys was always working on it,fenders were in primer for a summer then i think he switched to the ruby color..most everyone moved to North St.Paul less hassles from the cops,it's gettin pretty big though, tough to find a spot

The people i remember driving it were a couple. Always together. Not really approachable, but i was always drawn to the car. Haven't seen them or the car for years, and i did the North Saint Paul and Anoka thing for a few years.

Was that the one that Bob Holland did the upholstery in? Had a pretty wicked motor in it too I believe. 340 or a 440. I have pics of it in Bobs shop. The Ruby Slipper I do not remember, and I have a ton of pics ranging from 1991 till about the time Porkys started to suck.

If memory serves me right, Ruby Slipper was a metalflake gold chopped 1940 Ford Convertible owned by Tom and Jackie Durand from Little Canada. I have pictures of it, just need to find them.

I think the car is still around the area some where but not sure who the current owner is.

I think the car your referring to here is a radically custom '51 Plymouth Convertible that was owned by "Frenchy". That car has been sold out of state. He had it "For Sale" for a long time.

Man, even now I can't think of the Ruby Slipper.

I did scan some of my pics from back then regarding that Chrysler. I have a ton more but I feel like I am derailing the subject of this post anyways.

Frenchy's car was sweet. 340 6 barrel. LOTS of mods. He had it for sale forever but he was asking the world for it.

Yes, he's still around, not sure what he's driving these days though. Curious why you think that convertible is a Chrysler??? I always knew it as a radicaly customized '51 Plymouth.

The last time i saw Frenchy i think he was on a bike. Other than that i've seen him in his Vette. That was probably 2-3 years ago though.
