Nice score. A friend of mine, who is also on this board, got a '61 Vette for free! His Uncle had restored it years ago but it just sat. When he p***ed away, his Aunt called and gave him the car. He said, "Don't you want to sell it?'. She said he was the only one in the family that liked cars so it was his.
Great score. Mrs Jalopy has wanted a 60 - 62 Vette for years, but it is out of our price range. happy cruising jim h
Darn....it wasn't even an automatic........Beautiful...61s are one of my favorites too. What a great car.
Very very cool. My dad bought a '61 Ermine white/red interior, 283/230, 3 speed manual Vette back in 1970 from the original owner. $1500. He still owns it today. Probably the best investment our family has ever made. Mike
Sweet car!! That is the find of a lifetime! I love the old Vettes and I'll always regret not buying my brothers '57 in 1972 for just $1200 but I had just gotten drafted into the Army.
I never p*** on an opportunity to go look at a car I've heard about and once I'm looking I always ask if they are for sale. I's as easy as that!
Good score. If it would have been one year newer you'd have gotten a 327. Of course there is nothing that says you can't do a transplant, just to piss off the purists. Frank
You done real good. My older brother bought this 1960 back in 69 for $700.00 at an auction. And I have it tucked away for a future find.
JAMES...nice find (steal ) you dirty dawg! so i'am guessing you offered him $20.00 for the hardtop. hell you lucky basWHAT? he probably toke it. NAA congrats. my H.A.M.B. brother it's in the right hands...POP.
Cool find, does it have a Corvette engine, apparently everybody has one of those in their hotrod.. great score...I missed out on a 63 split in 74, everybody (banks) told me that $1200.00 was tooo much for an 11 year old car, I'm not bitter at all!@#$%^&*()FFN&^%$##%&*(BAS&^%^##&*()...
Great, great score. And by the way I know a guy who put a very healthy SBC in an RX7 with a Ford 9" under it. It's pretty wild!

Good for you... Im glad you had a good spirit about you or the RX-7 owner would have never opened the garage and showed the Corvette... racinman
Congrats! I think those early 'vettes have a bigger following than most any other single model out there. Better than money in the bank, and more fun.
