My Motors Auto Repair manual (1956 edition) shows a bore of 3 3/16 and a stoke of 4 1/8. Hope that helps. WHEN MEN WERE MEN AND CARS WERE STEEL
As an owner of a '53 Special I've got to know what you're scheming. Overboring the straight 8? Come on, fill us in. Also, any pics of your car? Did you see the Edmunds dual carb intake that was on ebay? Sweet. I wonder if a hamber bought it. Anyone know? here's the link- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4509672135&category=34198&sspagename=WDVW
Well, the plan is to build a 2 carb log manifold(what carbs I use is yet to be determined), split headers, do some minor port/polish, and bump up the compression a little bit(I don't know how I'm going to do that yet)
How much of a compression increase(if any) could i expect from using a thinner gasket? and does anyone have any idea if anyone makes or made high compression piston for theese motors, stock compression is a pretty lame 7:1.
Hey, I remember your car now. I especially remember your helmet. My 263 is stock for now. Someday I would at least like to go with 2 carbs so it looks cool. Check out this link on buicks.net It's from an article copied out of an early 60's magazine. It mentions how much can be milled off the head. http://www.buicks.net/racing/l8_performance.html
