    thanks guys!

finished the sail pan welding and modified the beltline trim to fit the new slightly tighter contour.

got the roof covered in an epoxy black primer. ready to head up to Daytona Thursday. there was just not enough time to tackle the custom flush mount skirts i wanted to make. so that will have to wait till later.

shoot of the roof inside where i cut and welded, its amazing how virgin this car is, all sorts of factory markings and tags, found one dated 12.01.50 on the seat still perfectly intact!:

now its a bit more visually appealing, you can really start to see how the new proportions are working:

the rear beltline trim is installed but not yet welded. i want to make sure it flows just right and its looking good so far:

Looks GREAT !!! Im new to the forum & just purchased a 53 Buick Special 2dr Sedan that has been chopped, but needs quite a bit of work to get it where I want it, Actually Im waiting for it to be delivered hopefully this weekend, What I need to finish chop is the interior window frames, If anyone has a set they would want to sell, send me a message & if not possibly someone knows where I might be able to pick up a complete set, Any info would be Greatly appreciated !! Im also looking for a windshield, As the one in car now has a rock chip & starting to get that milky band on bottom edge.
    Thanks Perk

ok i know ive been slacking on the Buick. there has been a lot going on in the past few months that has kept me physically and mentally busy. i have been enjoying the car during all this time if that counts for anything. i got a new shop space end of last year which slowed me down a couple month, then i had to recuperate some funds and focus on work. i feel things are finally starting to fall back into place. got some neat work coming through the shop that is keeping me busy and other project of my own that i want to attend to. i think i will have to chose my battles wisely because when i start to take the Buick apart i dont want to have to stop the process because of any outside factors. so ill be stuffing my pillow till i feel im ready to go for it.

till then there are only a couple more mods and details i want to attend to, ill post those as soon as i do them. for now here are some pics:

my pal Josh parked next to me, i was hoping this would confuse people into thinking my car isnt chopped. i can picture the conversations... "that is how a stock roof came from the factory son, now here is a chop top roof. see the difference"

Here is a suggestion. Find a copy of the February 1996 edition of Rod & Custom. In it David Guymon did a chop on an early 50s Buick hardtop. You should pick up some tips on how to handle the rear window.

No, If Guymon saw this hed say that Yaril dont need any tips. The car you are referring to doesnt have the fluidity this one does, even in terms of the way the rain gutterline sweeps perfectly down into the side window line. This is how it should be done buy rarely is.

Well executed, tastefully done. No mods done just for the sake of doing mods. You definately have "the eye"

No way, this man's chop is every bit as slick as Guymon's, and the drip rail treatment is very well executed, I would say better than Guymon's (IMO at least).

This one is done in such a manner that it is hard to tell for sure that it's been chopped, which is sort of the point.

To the casual passer by, it just looks slicker than a stock one, inexplicably so.

Good seeing you guys at Rumblers man. Your chop is perfect. That car has inspired me to cut mine this summer. See you Gainsville.
