Hey Everyone. I have been searching for information on the Mercruiser 470 four cylinder engine and came up on this site. My dad is building a 4 cylinder motor for a customer that is putting it in a circle track car. I am looking for information about these engines so if anyone can help out please let me know. On another note, my car is an 88 Mustang with an 815 inch Ford Hemi. I run a class called True Street. My car has a stock suspension, 10" tires, mufflers, etc. Here are a couple of pictures of my car.
Welcome aboard, lots of good folks and info here! I've seen the 'Stang at the Valley!! Nice! What part of Ky do you hail from?
hey JMAYABB...welcome. man how do i say this politely. as much as i love your rod, well these folks are into 64 rods back. nothing against you, its just the way it is. and believe me, i'am being very kind to what you may hear from other h.a.m.b. members. but personaly i dig your HOTROD! call me POP...or the old FART!
I am from Campton. It is 65 miles southeast of Lexington up the Mountain Parkway. I totally understand about my car being too new but I thought it would be ok in my introduction page. I have found a lot of information out about the Mercruiser 470 on this site so far. Hopefully I will get some phone numbers and give some people a call. I have already talked with Randy Dupree and he has helped out a bunch. Anyway, don't be too hard on me guys. It took a lot of cutting to get that big motor to fit in that car so I kind of fit in here don't I? This is all about unusual builds isn't it.
Welcome from Irvine......and yes someone on here will drag you thru the mud because of your NON friendly car. Just take it with a grain of salt and enjoy the HAMB...
I understand if I get ragged on. I found this site searching for unusual builds and I can't believe the amount of information I have found in only a few days. Thanks guys.
Welcome from MI, Really nice stang. What kind of power is it making est? Are you in the same class as Dan Milan ? He runs at Milan Dragway here in MI.
Welcome from Flintville Tennessee. That is one bad Stang, they did start production in 1964! tnrotter
I think Dan runs in a class above me but I have never ran at Milan so I don't really know. It makes around 1650-1700. The major chore is getting it to the ground. It likes to drag the bumper or blow the tires off. We have been working on the tuneup all year and still haven't gotten it figured out yet. Hopefully next year will be a different story.
Very nice !!! I couldn't begin to think what the forces in that feel like off the line. Maybe 5 times as much as my 454 bigblock chevy.
