model a body

    need some help.coming close to set the body on the frame.should i use a wood block kit or put down some rubber and set the body down on top of that.31 sedan body on a tci frame.
     
  2. I used the wood block kit on mine. I also used the frame webbing to eliminate the squeaks

    Did any of you guys make your own wood blocks? I'm thinking of doing this...

    I made and used some pieces from treated lumber. Worked great! As for the squeaks? Man it wouldn't be an A if it didn't squeak a little.

    they really are not that expensive, when you conciter the amount of time involved in making all the new mounting blocks, its really not worth it , in my opinion

    Mine is mounted directly on the frame, with the webbing between the frame and body.

    Putting polyurethane bushings under mine I bought from McMasters and Carr.
    Took all the wood out of the body so I figured the rest of it should go to.
    The wood blocks are traditional and pretty inexpensive.

    i used cut up fire hose....webbed and rubber laminated already....they throw the **** out every few years for safety so its usually free

    The Model A body is made to sit on hardwood blocks with webbing for anti-squeak protection.

    I would not use treated lumber, the chemicals in treated lumber will destroy metal unless it is stainless or double dip galvanized. As an example regular non-galvanized nails in treated lumber will dissolve in 6-12 months.

    I agree with everyone else, but also put the rubber pads in, you can buy them from any Model A shop...................they also help with any squeaks.
