just looking for some insight on this shoebox i picked up. its already torn apart (body off frame and all). frame has drop uprights and a notch, so it lays frame. i dont plan to bag it cause i dont want to invest mucho mulla in this. i got the car rather cheap considering it needs a lot (drivetrain, interior ext) i purches the flathead from this car a few weeks ago but that has plans for another roadster. now that i got the car i am eager to start cutting it up. 2 thoughts ive had so far... hardtop chop it: http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_...ah_johnson_49_ford/jay-johnstons-shoeb-2.html carson top vert (really love the overall look of Cunningham's car): http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_...s_built_49-51/roger_cunninghams/p6280111.html this "project" will by no means be completed anytime soon. i could not resist the offer on the car and quite frankly i just dont want a stock shoebox sitting around my shop, id rather chop it and let the rest happen as it may. well i look forward to any and all input. thanks! Yaril
i wish I could find a deal that was to good to p*** up on a shoebox. some day maybe. Anyways, I have started to take a liking to the carson tops as of late, so that would be my vote. Later, Chad
i would say 351 windsor that carson top would look sick and bagging it would be a great idea i think shoe boxes look best when there slammed
up to you, your skills and wallet. carson top would be very different. Ford small block, AOD or 5 speed trans, Ford 8" rear. just do as much as possible to keep it 50's/60's style. Have Fun
Do a hardtop chop like i are doing look here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=410348&highlight=shoebox /Stefan
ive been wanting to do a carson top car and would love to have a vert here in Miami. but when the roof is in good condition how can i justify removing it completely? hows about a removable hardtop?
You can justify it by selling the good roof to some putz who screwed up his chop and needs to start over. No harm, no foul.
