I am looking for the "crankshaft flange insert" for this application. The pilot bushing that supports the crank insert projection on the torque converter and locates in the bore in the crank. I lost the TCI part# I had, and can not get past the phone bank at TCI,telling me they do not list such a part. Anyone have access to a GM#10018699? this is an insert but no sizes shown in the parts book. Also a Jeep#J323 7088 is available, anyone have dimensions on this? I have a 1980 2.5 block with the SBC bellhousing bolt pattern,a 153 tooth flexplate, aluminum glide and converter, just need the" missing link" ie flange insert. Anyone know of an after market bushing? Speedway has the complete adapter set-up,but I hate to pay $65 for a bushing and s**** the rest of it. I'm working on a narrowed '26 modified, early postwar style.Early Ford axles and brakes,"wind tires",all steel. later, glider
It looks like the part number you are seeking is for later engines. My 76-81 Chevy parts manual shows the 10007202 as the correct insert for 79-80 RWD 151s. It is listed as costing $1.95 in 1981! A Google search shows this info for the crankshaft inserts: Model Year Drive Model Part # 1979-80 RWD all 10007202 1980-81 FWD all 10009785 1982-83 RWD Camaro, Firebird w/ auto 10018699 1982-83 FWD all 10018699 1982-83 FWD w/ manual trans 10009785 1982-84 RWD Camaro, Firebird w/ manual 10007202 1984 FWD w/ auto trans 10018699 1984 RWD Fiero w/ auto trans.10018699 1984 FWD w/ manual transmission 10009785 1984 RWD Fiero w/ manual trans. 10009785 1984 RWD Camaro, Firebird w/auto 10018699 * w/ auto = vehicle with automatic transmission w/ manual trans. = vehicle with manual transmission
I looked in my tci catalog, but my catalog is probably not old enough to list it? or not complete enough? But yeah, the neat thing about (most) chevy engines is you can bolt any trans to any engine without messing with adapters. I guess you picked an oddbal, you should find a 153 to replace it.
Slide with an Iron duke, wow, now that is an ODD COUPLE. Good luck finding a 153. A lot of them were used on boats.
should be fun with 4.11 gears seems the s10 crowd has done alot of homework, might try with them. I found references to fiero parts, but no solid leads. http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f104/2-5l-myths-and-differences-392998/
Thanks for the input guys. I'm pretty deep money wise in the 2.5 So I,ll finish w/it. I found the TCI part # CMP 7791c, called and got no where.I am going to have a bushing made locally. At least it will not be a 350/350. I have a 4:44 rear axle from a V8-60 for the car, should be fun! Sure wish there was a dry lake in Colorado---mmm--- the high speed test track at Pueblo? Dreamin, I'm sure.
I've got a BRAND NEW in the crate Duke at home.....destined for my '29 Chevy modified. I wanna run a Muncie.
Just got an adapter from Speedway, made to hookup an Iron Duke to a 350 auto. Glide may be a little different application, but the hard part is done. Using mine to adapt the duke to a sprint car with an alloy motor plate. The early 80's camaro 4 cylinder bell will adapt the Muncie. The Duke is a neat choice, as it looks old and they are just becoming obsolete with the racing community, so parts are around fairly cheap.
As said in the original post, an '80 Iron Duke for a RWD app has the same bellhousing pattern as the SBC. No adapter needed for the bellhousing to use a V8 trans. The adapter originally asked about is for the crank to support a PG converter. The Speedway adapter is for later Iron Duke RWD apps where the block has the same pattern as the 2.8, 3.1 & 3.4 V6s used in FWD cars.
The MISSING LINK has surfaced! Many thanks to Hugh M in CT. The Speedway pilot adapter will, with a little work connect the "Duke" to my "Glide". If any one is interested I will share part#s and details. Photo of "Missing Link" w/glide converter. Again thanks to Hugh. glider.
I would like part #'s and info please. I'm running a glide behind a duke in my S10 circle track race truck. Been all over the internet looking for info and here it is! A forum member at raceny found this link and sent me here. Thanks!
I'm sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm still searching. 2 calls to Speedway, 2 different tech reps and no one knows anything. Can anyone please help?
Got afeeling you think the Chevy 4 banger from Novas is an Iron Duke. The Nova engine was used by Mercruiser and possibly others in marine application.
