Hello everyone, I'm from southern Indiana, and recently found this forum while searching for Morton & Brett heads & engines. My only old vehicle is a 1926 Graham Brothers/Dodge fire engine. It has a Prospect (Ohio) Fire Equipment Co. fire truck body, two chemical tanks, and a Deluge rotary pump. The truck's engine had been replaced with a 1970s four banger before I got it. It did come with the old engine and transmission. I don't know anything about their condition. The engine has a cast overhead valve cover that says Morton & Brett, Indianapolis. I have read that they made heads for a lot of engine manufacturers and even made Indy cars & engines. Also that they made a conversion head for Dodge Bros. engines.
Welcome, I saw your name and had to check it out. They also made a conversion for the Ford bangers. You should check out the monthly "Banger Thread"
Morton & Brett made a lot of stuff for T's, speedster bodies, underslung parts, etc., and an OHV conversion for the T block. When the A came out they modified their OHV patterns to fit the A block. When you look at the bottom of the head you can see where they changed the large water p***age at the rear of the head. The head had an intake p***age on the right side and an "internal rams horn" (internal manifold) that actually entered the cylinders from the left side. Later heads had that same p***age plus 2 inlet ports on the left side. They were the first OHV conversions for the A on the market.

Here is your earlier thread on this cylinder head: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/20s-dodge-ohv-conversion-info-wanted.75341/#post-4925427 What engine is in the fire truck? What identifies it as from the 1970's with this ancient aftermarket cylinder head?
