    Well...

I finally have a build thread to start... I have been on and off the hamb since 03... I guess it's better later then ever...

I have been looking for a "easy" to get on the road as I have a '32 chevy five window project... that is well, rough would be a kind description and I just need to get some vintage tin on the road.

My "ol lady" (whom from now on will be known as OL... ) liked shoe boxes. then we went to the LSRU last year and decided she wanted a poncho safari (there was a sweet project over by the meet and greet at the 09 lsru..)

well a 56 4 door hard top came up for sale on here from wrenchrocket

up in Austin... after talking to the OL, I got the go ahead. and made the deal....

ok... now the pick up the dilemma.. I have a 05 Colorado... not the greatest of tow rigs... could it have done.. yeah..but it wouldn't have been fun. We went by Dave <meta http-equiv="CONTENT-TYPE" content="text/html; ch****t=utf-8"><***le></***le><meta name="GENERATOR" content="OpenOffice.org 3.0 (Win32)"><style type="text/css"> <!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } --></style>Xtralow60 to borrow a trailer... which ended up beeing practically a 18-20 bobtail steel trailer... to heavy with a car on it.
so RichardD called up louie and we went over to grab his Aluminum trailer....

This is where one of the many thanks are going to go out. LouieS. let me borrow his 08 Chevy one ton duramax crew cab and trailer as it would have been safer to use his ride over my lil Colorado.... SWEET!! and Thank you again louie!!! and RichardD and I set off to Austin

We picked it up and got back jan 30....

Since then I have made a patch panel for the floor and dis***embled the brakes. parts have been ordered to rebuild the brakes.....

We (richardD, Fuzzymind, and me...) spayed some trottle body cleaner down the carb and it FIRED up instantly... SWEET!!!

    Plans.....

short term... get it to Round up....

brakes.. fuel tank lining.. rebuild rad, patch floors and small amout of body rust... cut the coils lowering blocks, maybe paint shaved handles....

well a pic of from the add....[IMG]

any body who wants to photo chop this lowered, supremes with wide whites, satin medium blue paint, sky blue metal flake top.. thats the goal...

more post to update will come. ... the trip come and so on. but i have to upload the pics off the camera....

Greetings! Keep the door handles, but suicide the rear doors and reverse the handles.

    It's a Pontiac, not a Lincoln. Yuck.

Keep the trim, get rid of the handles, and roll with that photo shop.......Tri year Injuns are too sweet for words.

If you decide to shave the handles, I did a tech on my '56 for doors and trunk....it's in the tech archives.

an update, not much of one, but I got the wheel cylinders out, dissasemble, honed and awaiting new kits...front bearings cleaned and repacked. Have all the drums at work and forgot to machine them, but as I am a mechanic I'll just cut them Mon. at work. Master is out, thinking I am going to mount a new master and add a booster on the firewall, but wont make the decision until I get it apart. Again, I wont have much time untill crunch time to make it to LSRU... I can always get it on the road and go in for the upgrades (booster and probably a starbird disc conversion...)later.

This weekend I am studing for My ASE's but hope to take a break from studing to do SOMETHING on the car but p***ing these test = $$ to spend on the car via raise....

    goal by next weekend.

    get kits into the cyl.
make a decision about master situation.
clean out fuel tank / sealed
get radiator to rad shop. for rebuild.

boring I know but all part of the build.

Looks like it will be a good project....

  18. I found a 97-up GM van pedal bracket is designed to hang over to the left, I've been meaning to take it up and see where it would put a master in my '57 Pontiac, but it's buried in the snow up on the hill. Might be worth a shot to see if it will fit under/beside the defroster box.

So you want a firewall mounted master and booster? I used a universal street rod pedal set-up and trashed all the factory style heater BS. It did require welding and cutting, but I was already doing a lot of that so it was just a little more. I also had to relocate my fuse panel and voltage regulator and of course the heater box. Fuse panel was new unit from Rebel Wire here on the HAMB, voltage regulator is going to be mounted around the corner on the inner fender well, and I'll buy an after market heater box that actually works when the time comes. Here's some photos.

I made it so I could use the sweet factory brake pedal pad! I also had to heat that lever up and bend it over so it was at least in the same area code. You can see in the latest pics that I had to use a different brake switch, it's mounted but isn't wired at this point. Its a lot of work, but like I said I was already doing a lot of work. Under floor brakes are lame to work on. Good luck with it and your ASE tests, once you get certified the re-certs are a breeze, 13-year Master Tech!

Not much of an update. P***ed my ASEs so thats good.

Only update on the car is I got the radiator out and over to the rad shop A-1 raditor over in brazoria Texas.. a bit of a drive but heard some good things about them from some guys at work.

  22. Put up some current pics ya lazy bastad! We made up some floor patch pannels with the bead roller and Horrible Freight sheetmetal brake, Levi was in the process of welding them in Sunday.
