Hello I am looking for history on a 57 Chevy 2dr belair. orig black w 283. Has "MISS RED" "Beauty" on both doors. "body by JAMES BARKER Lexington Kentucky" Gold and white paint, Was maroon before that and then the orig black. Fenderwell headers, ladder bars, Rolled rear lips. The car is my 15 year old sons new project. He is a car nut, Small amount of rust, not to bad. Thanks
That didnt take long! On the HAMB all you got to do is ask!!! Thanks Bobby, I figured you would know the 57..
WOW is right. I cannot wait to see my son's face when he gets home from school. Thank you. When was the picture taken? Any other info on the car? What track was the photo taken?
Is the gold sun faded candy red? That's interesting. My son has been bothering me since he was 6 to get a 57. We found it on ebay. He wanted to paint it black with flames. After I show him the orig picture he may change his mind.
Oh my God... I can't believe you identified that car so quickly! This place is simply amazing. I think every 15 year old gear head wants a black '57 Chevy with flames! That was my dream car at the same age. It'd be cool to see the car put back the way it was, but preservation is an older crowd's game... a 16 year old kid wants to park a black, flamed '57 Chevy in the high school parking lot, not a former race car with someone else's name on the door, and the car named something he didn't pick out for it. Either way he goes will be the right choice. -Brad
Damn straight.... It's only paint...it can always be "returned" to it's race appearance. WAY cool car for a 16 year old kid, especially these days.....way to go dad!
I'm 14 and think a 57' with flames would be awsome but I would want to restore it to the old drag car look ether way it'll be a real head turner in the high school parking lot!
You should take some tracing or wax paper and trace over the lettering, would be nice to have that as a reference later on.
Personally i would restore it back to how it was but the only problem is kids in high school now dont understand what a g***er is, they think its just an old car you made into a monster truck. I'm working on a 53 chevy in my shop cl*** and no one understand why i would want to make the front end sit up high.
'Ya know, clothing fashions and hair styles come and go, but there certain vehicles that have NEVER been "out of style" and will always be forever cool in the High School Parking lot: '57 Chevys, '69 Camaros, etc.
