I bought a 55 4 door bel air today.I thought I'd see what other hambers have done with 4 doors. The one I bought has a 283 with a muncie 4 speed and cragars. The body is pretty nice.It needs work but I couldn't pass it up.I'll post pics when I get it home.
here's mine... currently it has a 350, nothing special, its basically a stock early 80's corvette motor with a comp thumpr cam, now has a 2 1/4" exhaust and magnaflow mufflers, and its got a 2004r 4 speed overdrive trans, it scoots pretty good! i'm slowly piecing together a 383 stroker for it.
I like the 4 doors but you can also make a 2 door out of it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228873&highlight=door+conversion
Never met a 55 I didnt like, I built a green and white 4 door 55 bel air a few years ago and wish I had another one. I will also admit I like a 4 door sedan better than a 2 door (hardtop) if were not looking at the money part. Thats just me tho,no offense to you h/t guys. got any plans for it yet?
Here is my 4 door. I cut it up to use as a parts car for my 2 door Sorry 4 door guys! Before: During: After:
A tri-5 is on my bucket list. I want a 2 door though. Which reminds me. If someone is looking for a 57' 4 door check out Tallahassee hotrodders web site. One on there for sale. Think it was $4800.
Here's mine,Owned it since 1968.Current power is a .060 over, solid lifter '56 265. My Jr.stock motor from the early seventies. I tend to keep stuff I like! glider.
i cant find it, but someone is sure to have a pic of it.... at viva about 6 or 7 years ago there was a black 55 4-door with body length flames, lowered pretty good, neat tuck n roll interior. to date my favorite 4 door car of all times and one i'll probably replicate when i have kids.
