have a lead on a 32 ford roadster body..orig henry steel body only orig doors and decklid..1 bad patch panel installed the guy says...nice structure where the floor was etc. he mentioned 10 grand for the body.. is that a fair price? im not up on 32 ford stuff
Uh yeah? But hey shoot the moon bring cash and flip out 7 large and see where it leads? 10K is a deal anything less is like icing on the cake! Have you put eyes on yet?
I think i know this one and have pictures.... Your a ****ing mater ....so if its the one im thinking of you probabally good..
ok went and looked at it body is mine until monday morning when i get back to him. want to make sure this is the real deal before i pull the trigger... car is rough around the edges. this car would be a clean up and sell for me i would not be keeping it. patch panels are the wheel wells,in front of the wheel wells on drivers side. doors were pretty solid but some bs work here and there, decklid the same way.the cowl was really nice... no fire wallor dash .has new braces that go accross under the floor and a new floor for the car and a dished shaped piece that goes under the seat. rails that run under the rocker all the way back are pitted but really solid. so 32 guys is this a real roadster and not a cut down coupe? just wanna make sure because im not familiar with these cars at all.
Did you leave him a deposit? If not, go back and read Jive-Bombers post. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=7461 Chris Nelson Kansas
The problems with the body are very typical of original deuce roadster bodies. I've had 5 gennies so have seen just about everything. Nothing a little loving care won't fix. I wish I was closer, you could at least double your money with me or better.
Real deal 1932 Ford roadster ... As to the value ... ?? A Brookville is about the same money ... with NO body issues and rust. If you HAVE to have original Henry Ford steel ( a LOT of us do ) then the roadster is a decent buy. I think you could most likely sell it for SOME profit but ... NOT a LOT of profit. I have owned my 32 real deal Henry Ford roadster for over 30 years ... and With the economy today ... I do not think there will be a line of folks ( with the CA$H ) waiting to buy it ... with much profit for you added. BUT I could be WRONG Just IMHO
Deuce Roadster: I was just funning a little, but I seriously don't know how nuts a deuce bigot like myself would go. I've had my share but was to dam poor to keep them. I'd still like to build one more gennie but everytime I try and buy one they are higher priced by quite a lot over this one. I'll never find a buy like this in the part of the country I live in.
Just curious how much $ it takes to convert something like this body into a really well down vintage rod? Trying to use original parts. Flathead or some cool engine? Like that Nitti roadster. Professionally done. thanks,
open ended question - How fast you want that flathead to go..... You want a quick change rear end... Finned buick drums... or Kinmont brakes ... Duvall windscreen... Bomber seats...
We both know that location and timing plays a BIG part in pricing a old car. I am done buying 32's ... so my idea of it's value may be off. BUT ... I myself would like to buy another 56 F-100 big window pickup. Today ... I would be willing pay a good bit more for one that I would have year ago ... when I was in the middle of my 32 3W build. I also would buy a Mercury pickup ( 48.49/50 or a 56 ) ... but here in the Southland ... they are almost non existant ... so the price WILL BE MORE than if in Canada
that looks familiar... did the seller mention where he got it from?...kinda looks like one I saw for sale on ebay (can't remember when exactly, but it must have been at least a year ago, probably longer than that) If I remember right, the one on ebay had a Brookeville cowl... If so, you might want to look closer at what exactly was done and how well it was done. I could be wrong though, it may be be a different one...just looks a lot like it... I think the one on ebay was around $10,000 or $11,000 maybe...
The thing about a gennie is that it is genuine. It always will be. The steel is better than a Brookfield. Brookfields from what I've heard are thinner to facilitate stamping.
If you wanted it to be as good as one could build in the period. Just a wide *** ball park. Don't have experience here.
Save your money in the long run & buy Rudy's roadster. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=440649
10K is a lot of money to be spending on something you don't know alot about. Especially if you're planning on flipping it for a profit. Based on those photos and your description, I'd say the body is priced about where it's worth. Definately not a rat killing deal.
i p***ed on the car..not enough wiggle room to make money for me. by the time i bought patch panels and my time wouldnt have been worth while for me atleast...plus the one linked to in the cl***ifieds is a hell of a deal for someone looking for one...
Fair price? what do you want to pay? there is no real fair price other than what you are happy with, nobody can really tell what a fair price is, if it works for you, buy it...and Brookville is a nice body but lots of body work still to do.... no perfect by any means, ben there, done that
