got my 56 special in the backyard, starting teardown. im stuck on the fenders, ive cut, wrenched, or otherwise removed all accessible bolts, and for the life of me i cant get the damn fender off. does anybody have any idea where all the bolts are, or how the hell do i got about fixing this. i have just wasted 4 hours of my life guys....
There's about a dozen 1956 Buick shop manuals on the auction site. If you're doing a complete tear down it would probably be a good idea to pick one up.
Have you thought about buying a shop manual for your Buick? Look for a FACTORY GM 1956 Buick shop manual, not a Motors , Chiltons, or Haynes. The factory GM shop manuals for the 50's cars are very well written and illustrated. They are well worth the money. If they aren't available in reprints, look on E-Bay for used ones. Depending on the year, you may have to buy an earlier shop manual, and then buy a supplement for your year of car. If you get a shop manual now to pull the front sheetmetal, then you will already have it, if you need to pull the engine, or trans, or do wiring, etc. A FACTORY shop manual, is the best investment, (and one of the cheapest overall), that can be made in an old car.
I normally stay form uncivil responses, but if you can't take a fender off, then Ratatat is right, buy a shop manual.
Hi tb. Can't help you with a "Bruick", but maybe a Buick! LOL. Had an idea...went to the classifieds section, and did a search for 1956 Buick. Went down the row of guys with Buicks for sale similar to yours. But...nobody online right now. Maybe you could do that, and PM them when they're online. Look for that dot to be red at the bottom-left of their post. Now...the only other thing I can think of...are there any that go from the inside of the car through the kick-panel? Also...sometimes when I can't find that last bolt, especially if it's just one remaining...I try to move the panel (your fender) a little, looking to see where it's pivoting. That'll help you locate that sucker. Hey...you didn't "waste" four hours of your life....you got the rest of the bolts off, right? LOL. Good luck. Common...you can do it. Look closer!
