does anyone know of a manufacturer of 49 to 53 ford dropped spindles /uprights that are one piece forged /cast . Down under we are not allowed to run the fatman type welded uprights. We have strict inspection regulation prior to getting on the road. Flipped uprights also require heating and bending ,also frowned upon.
I Like the jamco set up but again there is some welding involved. I am sure its a stong as anything but we are not allowed fabricated suspension unless its been been stress tested. I would think the many miles their kits have done on the road proves their durability. But Kiwis need paper work.
How about these, and a new set of springs? Looks like no welding required. http://www.jamcosuspension.com/products/sfID1/73/sfID2/39/sfID3/6/productID/698 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4165389&postcount=15
im talking about the new A arms a whole new kit! nothing welded! i hope you find what you are looking for?
I thought when we flipped the uprights on my buddies 50 ford we just slotted the control arm bolt holes to get the alignment back...don't remember heating/bending or tweeking them at all....but been a few years back...do know that ****er was on the ground, but it sure drove good...and lit up the night with sparks !!
Remove the bottom spring plates, make 1" spacers to fit and bolt back on with grade 8 bolts and grade 8 nuts. Worked for me.
yeah afaik there are no forged drop uprights, only the fatmans. the fatman spindles are top notch, very nice fab work. maybe you could get some do***entation from Brett? something like we've sold **x over **x years with no failures... the jamco kit is spendy but it will get you low. also nice stuff. i think the camber is way out when you flip the stocks, at least it looked that way when I had mine off. i think a heat and bend is the only way to fix that. that said its been done many times and as long as you use a good hot oxy acetyl setup with a hot rosebud flame (those uprights are heavy) you should be just fine.
I was looking at this setup again tonight after our chat yesterday. http://www.jamcosuspension.com/products/sfID1/73/sfID2/39/sfID3/6/productID/698 Isn't it used with the stock suspension arms? This member may be able to help http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/member.php?u=40468 T>
