Grimlok....as a student of the oblique reference, I applaud you. That was so oblique, I missed it! My bad, 'cause I love it, now that I get it... Anyway, yeah...G. Gordon Liddy, Mr. Clean (although I am irish, and I think he was...Balkan?)
Addict.... I am fortunate to be an instructor and have amazing tools...so my actual shop has become a repository for tires and old seats and bits and pieces.
hey that truck is gonna be killer... doeas my friend lucas still work there if so tell him dave paras said hey
Here's some ch***is pics...sorry for the poor image quality. Basically, the truck employs a single tansverse front spring, and dual leaves in the rear. The wishbone linkage under the rear axle is essentially a traction bar/locator...I am using UHWM for mock-up bushings, but these will be replaced with OEM rubber (S-10). The rear springs, just like the front, are 48 Ford springs (new main leaves). The tall vertical bracket is the steering box/master cylinder/brake pedal mount.
If you have another donor cab available, the rear cab corners could be used as the leading edge of the firewall....but what ever you do, I'm sure it will look as great as the other areas you have done.....NICE!!!!
Hatch... That is an idea worth considering...I was also thinking about adding a beaded flange...basically replicating the hood flange...thereby reducing the m*** a bit. I dunno... I am still of the opinion that once you see the headers, you'll hardly notice the firewall Thanks for the compliments.
Thanks... I started using that wishbone setup awhile ago, on stuff I was building. It's cheap (4 feet of 1 3/4" x .134 HREW and three S10 OEM bushings, at about $7 each), and provides great lateral and traction control.
Thanks for the kind words.... More pics by the end of the week, I hope....oughts have the rear suspension ****oned up.
[ QUOTE ] Yeah... I try explaining this thing to people, and they are like..."yeah, whatever...that sounds pretty stupid" But I think its gonna work Big enough tires, big enough headers, big enough induction, and a low enough windshield, hell...anything will look cool [/ QUOTE ] Well, not necessarily...I am still trying to figure out if I like it or not. I think the firewall is way too bulky and wide for the frame and grill shell, and I do not like the swoop on the bottom of the grill shell. But, reading your comment aboput that already makes sense. I also cannot see the 11" taken out of the width of the cab. However, it still has a *****in' look to it overall. I like the chop. The front 3/4 view does have an appealing look to it, and I think the truck is very artistic overall. Can't wait to see the end result.
Laidout...thanks for your thoughtful critique. Honestly, I am not completely sure of it, myself ...but its only metal. If I hate it, I'll figure out a remedy...
That is one of the coolest trucks I have seen. Anything with that much fabrication involved deserves respect, but it looks way cool anyways.
bringing it back up, cause i want to know how progress is going. bill, i am speechless ............................... ok i do have to say something. that is truely a work of art. i am always amazed by the work that you & others do & wished i had the skill alot of u have in ur little finger. hey bill whats all the plumbing near the rearend for?????.....joe
You say 'big enough wheels'. How tall are the wheels gonna have to be to keep everything from dragging on the road? 22"? 24"?
