This is a test. This is my first attempt at posting a video so please bear with me... I lit the 283 today. This is the first firing since installing the tri-power manifold.
Well that didn't work...Let's try this... <embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid755.photobucket.com/albums/xx191/mikethegreek/P2200379.flv"> Disregard the douchebag
I dunno? The guy at the swap meet that I bought it from pulled it out of his '55 Chevy. It must have been a warranty block because the numbers, and oil filter boss call it a '57 283. All the other numbers, heads, intake, exhaust manifolds are '55. I haven't had it apart yet so I know nothing about it. So far I have only run a carb full of fuel at a time (no tank or fuel pump set up yet.) I also have not had any water in it yet. I basically made sure it was oiling, changed the oil ,put a tune up on it , and Kabam! At this point, I hope to just put a gasket kit and some paint to it.... we'll see.
Wow. That's a vintage bullet now. One of the reason's I asked spec's is that I'm collecting part's to re-build the original 283 that came in my '61 (avatar). You have that mouse looking good too.
Congrats!! I have the original 283 in my 62 Chevy C10, I rebuilt it not to long ago to be a little wild child motor, I think I made it a little to wild..
Rebuilt my first 283 at sixteen, 1970, sweet experience, best little engine going, especially for todays builds. Have a similar three deuce setup on a 283 fresh on the stand, and a fewwwww on the floor. 57 vintage. Nice video, thanks for the share.
Thanks Brian. Here's what she looked like when i bought her... All I've really done so far is scrape the 50 years of grime off it, repaint the water pump and fan, and change out the intake. It will be painted as original (other than the tri-power.) I'll take some more current shots today.
hey cool love the pics, lets see some current ones, so I can copy the look you have going on for my engine block. see ya Brian
Here you go Brian. I still have some painting to do, obviously. I did spend some time making the little original style wire looms. I am going for a late '50's crate engine kinda vibe.
looks good.just got my-self a nice 350 and want to dress it up nice and old,and yours is tasteful, good luck and keep the up-dates rolling in. Brian
