I'm looking for pics & information about this car. A friend of mine recently bought the home & shop with all kinds of parts including the SOHC motor that was in the car. Its last known whereabouts was on the peninsula side of the SF bay area. The car was raced out of Hayward CA. He wants to find & restore the car. Someone here has to know.... This is the HAMB!

I think they always ran a wedge motor, even blown.

I owned that car in the 80's. The ch***is was absolutely not saveable, so it was s****ped. I bought it from a family in Hayward. It had sat in their backyard under a tree for years. It include the body, doors, decklid. and rear plexigl*** window like a Shelby road race style. There was no front clip. The interesting thing about the body was on the inner fenderwell who ever moved the rear wheel wells foward you couldn't see any welding. Also the body was held together with those hexagonal head rivets you use to see the factory use. It also came with one set of 10 spoke 15's Americans, 15x4 Halibrands and a rear set of 10x15 Halibrands. I sold those to various people. I sold the body to an Afro-American fellow named Jin Hughes out of San Francisco. To my knowlege he probably still has the body. I sold it all off in about 1985. I hope that helps!!!!

Sorry his name is Jim hughes not Jin. He was an automatic transmission re-builder. He was trying to get some kind of gadget for C-6's patented at the time. Hope you find him that would be a neat peice of Bay Area history to bring back!!!!!

Denny & Jerry Forsberg and Al Hubbard raced a Jr. Fueler (A/FD)out of Vic Hubbard's Speed and Marine. Their last ch***is was a late 1964 Woody Ch***is. The last motor they had in the car was a Hilborn Fuel Injected 427 SOHC Ford motor bought by the Souza Bros. It was never in the Mustang S/XS Funny Car. Souza Bros & Dad ran a blown wedge 427 into the 7s. A Real Local Favorite

Sorry I have no pictures of this car when I owned it. It was just a bodyshell on a ch***is with rearend only. After looking at the collage of pictures I know the ch***is that was under it wasn't original. It had the motor mounts offset 3" to the right. The Olds rear end was also shortened with the 3" offset.w/stock type coil springs. Although it did have an offset rollcage. It was orange though faded. The people I bought it off of kept saying it was the Souza Bros. car. I think I paid $800.00 for it. Donny Holmes a funny car driver found it for me when I was re-doing one of his alcohol funny cars. It was at least 25 years ago when all this went down, but I'm sure the guy I sold the body to was named Jim or James Hughes out of S.F. I saw him at the March Meet or the Reunion about 3-4 years ago. So he must still be around. Good luck in finding it . Keep us posted!!!!

The good thing is that now, almost anything is worth saving. Old drag cars weren't worth anything in the late 70 & early 80s. Even if the hull of the body is still around, it could be reborn. Good luck and I'll follow aswell!

Little update..... Jim Hughes died a couple years ago, but we were able to talk to his brother. He said that they ran the car up in Sonoma for kicks with the ch***is it had & the car was white with the name The Lords Prayer on it. He also said that they sold the car to someone in Hayward back in 1995.

Choke- thanks for the name. Now....... anyone have any more leeds?

    Thanks

Just so you know there's also a 65-66 Mustang fastback in Marin county that's candy orange. It belonged to John Apostle ot of Kentfield. He had a shop across the street from College fo Marin in the 70's. It had a blown 392 or 354 Hemi in it. When he died he left to Butch Bashera out of San Rafael. He propably still has it for sentimentil reasons. It also ran Sears Point. It's not an A.W.B. car. Hopes this helps you by not following the wrong lead. As far as Jim's brother saying the" ch***is it had "I didn't sell him a ch***is, it got cut up and went to the s**** yard. Probably got turned into a datsun or something!!!
