Hi guys, Im looking for some Flathead advice and possibly a teardown of my engine here in San Diego (Santee). The damn thing is still blowing smoke and I hate it. Done everything suggested by everyone here, short of tear down and having a look inside.

I've never done a valve job on one, and would like some pointers. Ive got low compression in one hole, but other than that and the smoke, she runs well. Im not looking to drop the car off and have someone else do the work, I'd like to do it, but if dropping it off at a shop is the way it's gonna get done, then I will have to do it.

    Advice, phone numbers, directions, pointers?

    Thank you! :)

You might go to the Big 3 Swap Meet at Qual-com next weekend- there will be plenty of flathead guys there that could help you out. Obviously, look for the vendors with flathead stuff, and strike up conversation-

Yeah, I've talked to tons of people, and have lots of pals that drive oldies, but no flathead gurus. I guess what I'm looking for is someone that knows their ****, for a little guidance. Looking for a graybeard somewhere out here- not necessarily a vendor.

Some of the Bean Bandit guys live there. Excellent flathead guys.

The guys at D&B in Solana Beach seem to know their stuff when it comes to Flattys. Seen lots of flatheads go through there. Always seems to be old cars there in for repairs.
