Boys, Anyone running one Wilson Welding's quick changes? The owner Bob seems like a pretty cool guy. Any pros or cons? Price is right. Thanks.
Bobs work is highly regarded around the HAMB. A pal of mine just received his Speed Demon QC. Very nice. Hasnt run it yet, but the work is top nptch. Keep in mind this is a converted Banjo, so there are big beefy welds around the tubes. If you are looking for something like a Halibrand this aint it. THis QC is more like a dirt track item from the 40s. Utilitarian, beefy and cool.
Yeah, some kind soul put up a site for Bob. http://www.wilsonweldingandmachine.com/ But don't expect too much from it. Just go ahead and call him if you have any interest in one.
I too am having one finished up right now. I've held one in my hands and they look cool. Bob says that they are no stronger than a stock banjo rear end, but you now have the ability to change the gear ratio for cruising or low end. I would recommend one!!
I understand they are in the new Rodders Journal...have not seen it yet. http://www.wilsonweldingandmachine.com/SpeedDemon.jpg
http://www.wilsonweldingandmachine.com/BobHonest.jpg by the way...my claim to fame..the little devil on the cover was carved by me. That and $1.29 will buy you a cup of cheap coffee
im not seeing any pictures? is this just a flipped banjo center with a shaft put through like an old Pappy Hough rear? i've got some plans to make one of those..seems easy enough zach
