Yeah I can't help it..... To use these good T-Bird covers on anything other than a Y-Block is just wrong. There I said it. But Lincoln Y's and Ford Y's are different.

I have seen it done with , the steel y-block covers, but I think you have to cut the top off of the sbc valve covers and weld the y-block cover to it. I don't think it will be possible with the aluminum ones because they are thicker. Im sure someone has tried it, and I'm sure that a lot of people will be opposed to this idea, but maybe someone will chime in with a good answer.

  4. No, they are not large enough to fit over SBC covers.

Doubt these will slip over any SBC valve cover. The Ford Y-block has the same bore spacing as the 289/302/351C-W-M which is 4.38" while the SBC has a 4.4" bore spacing. The Lincoln Y-block has the same bore spacing of the Ford FE which is 4.63". Looks like you'll need to cut-n-weld to pull this off.

You'd be stupid to cut up a good pair, there are plenty of ones out there that *****s cut breathers in and hacked up over the years. Use a pair of those if your going to take the sawzall to them. Otherwise buy a pair of reproduction ones(yes the make them) and do it to those. Lincoln and Ford y-blocks interchange very little and the covers do not.

Relax guys and think about this...he obviously doesn't own the T-bird covers and they are probably for sale somewhere. He's thinking about buying them but wants to make sure they will fit before doing so.

If he actually owned them, he could check the fit himself.

He got his answer that they don't fit so they are safe...

  17. When exactly did the fascination with putting the wrong valve covers on your engine begin? If you are not proud of the motor in your ride, change it! And here's a though, instead of putting a small block chevy in everything, put something interesting in there.

Look, some other guys make small blocks too!;)

I saw a NASCAR show car Dodge a few years ago with MOPAR milled into the SBC valve covers.

  19. yes, that is sad. I also saw an altered wheelbase Dart with a SBC in it. Bad things happen I guess.

Just remember that if you polish a turd that when you are all done you still just have a turd. Think about it!

    Never go full retard!

But Seriously Save the covers for somebody like me who loves the Y-block. If you put those on a SBC your car will never run right and the Gremlins will carry you away. I love SBC's but for goodness sake there are plenty of Y-blocks out there that run great and would love to be under those covers.
