I just awoke from a deep sleep at 3 AM knowing in my heart of hearts what color my 34 five window HAS to be. First it was black. Then it was that GM bright yellow used on late 90's Cavaleirs. Then back to black and lastly ford dove gray but deep in my heart I wanted it a medium tan with black accents, tires etc. I sat straight up in bed. I knew my bodyman wanted me to paint it gray but it's gotta be what I want it to be.....GM fleet tan with black tires, black insert in the dropped axle. black carpet and dash. Backing plates will be black and tan tutone and I'm gonna go back to the 40 ford front brakes with tan 35 ford wires in front. I just bought a pair of 16X8 36 ford wide 5's for the back [Winters quickchange with wide 5 hubs] and the centers will be black but the wheels themselves will be tan. I've already bought the tires....black gumdippers from Coker in 7.50 for the back [on those 8 inch rims] and 4.75/5.00's on 16X4 ford wires....with 33 ford stainless ribbed rings both front and back...can you just see it? I can and I'm pumped to the max! Got some more work done above the windshield this evening...making the windshield frame fit the opening better than Henry ever did. Jimmy's [my bodyman] going for a rolls-royce fit and finish on this body..........and it was an old roundy-round stock car! Beat up all over but it's really coming along nicely...it's gonna be a great car. Ordered my lumpy cam this evening and ordered that red paint for the inside the engine block and heads earlier in the evening...my new compe***ion-cams rockers and pushrods came today and so did my new Rootlieb hood tops...all bought from the HAMB cl***ified's. I also went down to Lincoln earlier in the week and bought a saginaw 4 speed complete with Hurst shifter and rods/levers to fall back on just in case my T-5 isn't as good as I want it to be. My hands are shaking...I just got an adrenaline rush thinking about my ****in car, man! Damn, I feel like Tuck when he gets excited...grinding my teeth and all! I'm gonna try to sleep a little more before I gotta get up to work [yeah, I gotta job where I work Sundays...gives me some quality time with our bead blaster] .......g'nite all

Sounds great Rocky! Will we see it at the Round Up? I think the color choice will make a knockout combo on that car.
.............and another thought came to mind. I plan to use my cherrypie 34 chevy hood sides on this car. Oh, I have a complete 33 ford hood but it went through a bad fire. I'll be using the very front of the 33 hood tops at the front of my new rootlieb 34 hood tops to mate that new 34 hood to my 33 grille. I little slicing and dicing will make 33 hood tops out of 34 hood tops but that leaves the warped-up curved-louver hood sides. Man, I LOVE 33 hood sides but they'll never be good enough to use on this car. .........except for maybe door panels. They'll make outrageous door panels. I could paint them a flat tan or even stretch some material over each and every louver and glue it down...just thinking here.
Turkey turd tan...that's what my buddy called my old 34 P/U. I had a hell of a time finding the right color that was in my head back in the 70s when I built this. It's a long story but I liked my tan P/U. I'm not a "California Duster" kind of guy so the tan fits my style. It always looks clean. The coupe is lookin' good. Keep us informed.
1961/1962 Chevrolet Fawn Beige. I had a '61 Impala and a '62 Vette at the same time in the early 60's, both that color. Man, I was cuttin' me a fat hog. Have painted a few more cars that color over the years. Charlie

Man Rocky that is looking great...can't wait to see it in person when I fly back there in a few weeks to pick up the 46...guess the rest of the dough will come in handy!!!!
There is other things to do when you wake up at three in the morning, I know your not too old to do that anymore.
I've got an old book on Roadsters with a car owned by Roger Ward painted in a nice tan. HE was the painter as well. A great color I had never thought much of until then. Then one day I saw that huge c10 thread here on the HAMB and saw another very nice lowered c10 in a restrained shade of tan. Guess who owns it? Roger Ward. I think this guy really knows his tans because the idea of tan does nothing for me but the actual tan cars I've seen connected to Roger Ward? Masterpieces. Go figure.
Roger Ward is part of the reason I want the car painted tan... Going back a few years, standing around at the old Kansas City Cowtown Nats....when Roger comes cruising by in a 51 Merc....brown with tan "star wires" wire wheels...sounds bad...looked great! Then Roger waits 'till everybody is painting their duece roadsters bright yellow, orange and especially red..........he paints his 32 taupe...a dark tan with a splash of green in it...wheels and all. Blew everybody away, including me. Kenny Baker ["choprods'' here on the HAMB] introduced me to Roger a few years ago when Roger had his 65 chevy shop truck. We were attending some car thingy ...maybe Lawence, Kansas run. Anyway, Roger's pickup was awsome as usual....I think it was champagne and silver ....the man has an eye for subdued color...ok, except for his red and black 59 ford 2 door wagon.
Heres a picture of Rogers roadster, and his ol shop truck............he does have an eye for colors!!!!!!!!!!
