I just bought a 1964 gmc truck with a 305 v6 and a three speed on the column. Does anyone know if I can bolt a small block bellhousing to the three speed trans in this truck?

I don't really know about that, but if you purt a small bloclk in it you're goning to have to change the front springs, as the 305 weighs a ton. The small block won't weigh enough, it'll ride terrible.

the transmission should work with a V8 bellhousing, yeah. Make sure it's the right bellhousing, though.

It's an easy swap that was done quite often by the farmers around here a few years ago when those 305's got worn out and needed work or replacement.

You want the cast iron V8 pickup bellhousing though and make sure that the hole for the bearing retainer is the correct size for your bearing retainer.

Thank you all for replying to this thread. I don't think that the springs will be a problem. The prior owner hacked the front springs to lower it so I'm hoping by swapping to a small block might help the ride alittle bit. I already have a cast bellhousing, but it is out of 69 camaro. I'm hoping that is the right one, but want know until I remove the v6. I just got this truck though so I'm going to cruise this v6 for a little while, so my family and I can enjoy it before I have to work on it.

If you're doing a motor swap, you probably won't need those V6 emblems.
I could find a good home for them:D!

Ha, ha, ha. A neighbor of mine has a crew cab and those emblems are as rare as hen's teeth. If you put an eight in there there's a market for all the stock stuff in Cali. Have you thought about keeping the six and detailing it?

The emblems are all ready gone off this truck when I purchased it. I do know where there are a couple, but the guy that owns them is so tight that he squeaks when he walks. So he would probably not come off of them. I have thought about rocking the v6, but I am also an adreneline junky and like to go fast. I have a fresh 383 and some 462 double humps I had planned to slam in this. It needs to warm up first though.

69 Camaro bellhousing isn't the one you need. You need a truck one. Trucks use bellhousings with pads on the bottom for mounting to the crossmember. There is no transmission crossmember, the engine has side mounts and the bellhousing has two mounts and the transmission hangs off the bellhousing without any other mount.
