Hi Julie, I never got to go to Baylands but I remember hearing about it a lot. Seems to me they got seating from Ontario Motor Speedway when it shut down. Check out this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236178 I guarantee you'll find somebody that went to Baylands and that you probably sold a hot dog to. Augie
Welcome Julie! Yes, I remember it well. I used to live in Gilroy and went there a lot for the dirt track races in the last 70s and 80s, so maybe I saw you there.
Welcome! I went to Bayland quite a bit when I was stationed at NAS Moffett Field in the late '80's and probably bought a hamburger & coke from you.
Hey Julie, well I remember Baylands Raceway very well. I used to work in the conssesion stand as well. Both at the oval track and the drag strip. I was 14 years old at that time, I'm 42 years old now, were you there at that time? I used to live on the other side of the freeway, in the Irvington district. Every week end I would ride my bike across the overpass to the track. Christy lane was the the road going into the property. I also was a flag person for the go-kart racing. Please respond back.
Well It took me a hundred years to get my account activated here and glad I finally did. I too lived in the Irvington dist. On blancard st as a matter of fact. I loved being at that raceway and looked forward to it everytime. It was a big rush for me. Im still trying to locate some pictures of me as a trophy girl. My adopted mother may have had them. She died after I moved here to PA and I asked my sister to look for them but they got rid of everything. I do have a lot of good memories there.. Im sure I served a zillion hotdogs amoung other things. I can still hear the noise of the cars as if it were yesterday! I think I started working there when I was 16 in 83'. I remember the first time they asked if I wanted to hand a trophy out. OMG I was in heaven. ha ha. I wish I could remember who I gave it to.. Those were the days! Its good hearing all these stories! It really brings back a lot of memories!
