starliner roof is a major swap. my brother has collected all the parts to do it. requires shortening of the trunk lid cause starliners have a smaller one.
and parts get pricey. he's lucky, hes aquired everything he needs over the years for pretty cheap. Starliner glass is PRICEY. he's collected everything but has yet to start the swap, his wife and him bought a house last year so its kept him pretty busy. hopefully he starts working on it again this year.

started life as a box top, but a previous owner whacked the roof and made a poor mans convertable:confused:

sorry for the crazy angled pics:rolleyes: but these should give you a rough idea of whats needed

I'm sure you've seen pix of this car on Jegs catalogs, etc... It has a 60 Plymouth roof.[IMG]

There was a very nice '63 Galaxie (square top, not fastback) at the GNRS with a slightly chopped top -- I think 2". I believe that Don Dillard's thread (DRD57) had a picture or two. Take a look.

Personally, I'd vote for the fastback top from a Starliner or '63-65 Galaxie.

That is the car I was talking about. I wouldn't have identified it as chopped, either, but the display board that was with the car said that it had been whacked 2". If nobody notices, maybe you need to cut it a bit more!

  15. here ya go Ian, i took the liberty of ditching the bellflowers, spots and antennas...brightened up your whitewalls a tad also...hahahah....I let the roof come foward without stretching it, It looked squashed otherwise...the c-pillar is a bit broader though than stock(the real trick would be the stainless trim at the bottom edge, which i lengthened...easy on photoshop). hope you like it..tried to do it in the "D'Agostino style" that your VVife likes :)

**went back and shortened the roof through the quarter window so that the c-pillar aligned better with the rear wheel...I always love when the c-pillar visually flows through the back wheel...makes the whole thing flowwww

***ok, third version...kept roof from #2 but also frenched headlights, tucked front bumper in to line it up better with the wheel opening, and lowered the rear bumper a touch and lowered the lower quarter to match(made for a more pleasing kick-up, the stock looked drastic)

Like it matters, but I vote no chop. Detroit did a good job of getting proportions right in the early 60's. We can thank the customizers for that right.

  25. Hey Ian I have a roof off a 61 buick bubble top with the back glass that I was planning to put on a 62 bird. If you think you can use it on your wifes Galaxie come and get it.

  28. Its FREE!!!! got to keep our wifes happy. Mine wants me to clean up the yard around the shop :(. The earily galaxie's can be very cool and make a great every day driver. We built one a few years ago just to turn. My wife drove the shit out of it and she was pissed when it did sell.
