  2. Man, am I envious! I am grateful for the 1 car shop I have but in this "micro shop", one must be creative with space, does anyone have any thoughts for "ceiling" car posters, maybe one of a hotrod on a lift with a underview" I mean think about it, is there a market for it or what?? :)

A lot of my garage art is old adverti*****ts for cars or stuff I like. I buy the cheap frames from the Dollar store so they are protected by gl***. However, my favorites are in my rec room, not the garage. I have two framed Norman Rockwell prints. One shows Henry Ford on his maiden voyage in the "Quadricycle". The other shows a family showing up to visit at a farm in a new br*** radiator Model T. These are prints that my Dad got back in 1953. Ford Motor Company was giving them out to some businesses, etc. during their 50th Anniversary Celebration. I consider them "keepers"! :D

I bought a bunch of salesman calendar samples from the early 60's. Many of these were larger than regular calendars as they were samples to show off the photograph.

There are some country scenes, buildings etc but the best ones are the "****ies".

  5. Signs here. Road signs, advertising signs. A couple repops, most all though are vintage.
Traffic light from the ceiling. And license plates.

    I dream of the time when;
I have inside walls in my garage with insulation and power behind them
I have a display room for my cases with diecasts, my mag collection and book collection.
Until then, my stuff is packed away on the industrial shelfs in there.

DAMN!! Now thats wall art!! OL55 and 49ratfink, yours are super nice too. I love the old stuff, signs and wall art in general. I have a bunch of stuff but it is all down now because I'm planning on moving soon. I can't wait to put it up in a new garage.

Keep those pics of that wall art coming!

I have an engineering propaganda poster from work. The text is "without engineers the world stops". Its a traffic signal and the red light is lit, kinda going with the stops theme. THE RED LIGHT IS ON THE BOTTOM. Had to have it.
Also a few Art Frahm's. What is it about celery?

Here's some of mine.... They are all framed for the most part because they were once in the house... ;) Ah the old days!!! Now they reside in my MAN CAVE.....

    Enjoy,

My only problem with that, is all of the outlets and switches have been run down the center of my biggest wall in conduit..........so I can't hang anything unless I do a double board. Might do that.

But I do need to cover the walls in something other than what it's currently painted in.

A lot of Photoshopping and image-refinements are done to keep the 'pixelating' down.
Large originals to scan off in highresolution are usualy required aswell.
For instance, the topleft Buick convertible and the 50's cruisescene below it are scanned directly from a Rock'n'Roll Double LP cover. I've colored-in the 50's scene with Photoshop as it was mainly in black&white originally. (see attached pic of the frontcover)

The topright pic is off a '50s Nascar race which I scanned out of a magazine, and the one below that is of a Route66-scene which I found online in a good and high resolution.
I've also did some coloring in this one to give it a more vintage look.

Some of you folks have some really groovy art hangin' at your place... Some of my most prize possessions consist of Robert Williams prints... I bought them several years ago from a vendor at the drag strip, long before I actually even knew who Robert Williams is... I have the 1976 dated "Hot Rod Race" print a**** others... Whether by fate or coincidence, it would be many years later that I actually would meet Robert, and have one of my Big Stick songs, "Drag Racing", included on his CHROME, SMOKE & FIRE picture double disc LP hot rodding music compilation... Robert Williams is an incredibly talented artist-- and he's a genuinely nice guy too-- a very kind and personable man... I also have a rather large print ***led "From Super Stock to Funny Car", featuring photos of lots of old skool cars, including Arnie Beswick, Dyno Don, and Ramchargers a**** others-- it was produced by "Photo By Bob", a photographer who I believe is no longer with us... It's important to have nice hot roddin' art hangin' up-- It's good for the eyes and keeps you in a hot roddin' state of mind... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

  17. I gotta get out the door, so not much time to talk...

If you or anyone wants some hand painted automotive signs, or old junk painted, let me know. I love doing it. My garage at home is filled with it, so when people see it, I usually do some for others.

I just lucked out and got some very large B&W images from bonneville from 47, and some old drag posters, I scanned them in a large format scanner.... holy **** that was exspensive. But I lucked out and found a giant copier....4 ft wide, any length. I got it from a lady in the movie biz I use to do props for.... 5G machine, for 200 beans cause she needed it out of her way. So I'm going to be making copies of some neat stuff I have. Pm me if anyone wants or needs anything copied. I can also make wallpaper now too...

keep in mind that sun will destroy them over time ..but you can't see them rolled up .
a few familiar Robert Williams hang from the ceiling & old 40s &50s movie posters are inexpensive wall paper for the office or parts room.

Sorry, haha. The more I look the funnier it gets. "Hey, here's a bunch of guy's ****s with the hint of a stock Merc peeking around. :D

When I started putting posters in my garage it was one or two that people had given to me, and now I have small space with a few more choice ones. But if I get a new one I like better than another an old one comes down... because you should really be saving the majority of wall space for speed parts! :)

Speaking from experience, it's awfully hard to have a dual purpose space-part workshop and part gallery. All that nice stuff can get in the way (and get dirty and screwed up)when you get down to the real purpose of the shop-to build in.

Hey man, if you find me one of a bunch of forties chicks working on a fenderless Deuce, I'll hapilly swap mine out. ;)

  25. In the barn, a pirate flag, and an old *** Pistols poster with the corners ripped off from being stapled to the 2x4s so many times...

at home, a couple of Rob't Williams posters, framed with plexi instead of gl*** to keep them from getting smashed or dirty..

Someday when I'm old an no longer grind, sand or paint, I'll bring all the NICE posters out of the house and put them out there, for now, diposable **** is the order of the day.

    It's http://www.atomichighboy.com for Chris Froggett

Chalkboard paint is a good idea Brandy...

I suggest small works of art... maybe self-adhesive... see below :)

Funny, that's the one poster in my garage my wife really likes!

I like it because it reminds me of the group I ran with in school. It hangs over my workbench.

Most of the other art is event posters from strips I frequented in the 60's. Everything I have hanging in the garage is encased in lexan.
