I know of these two that should be around at the moment, the shoebie is Hamb Buzz Bomb former ride, now he has an incredibly kool 53 poncho, anyway i know it was at least chopped by the Lead Slinger. The chebbie i dont know **** about but i learned somewhere its a bill Hines car.And is above nice. Maybe guys that own them will make a step forward.
Don't have any pictures but Bill Hines nosed and decked my 1956 chevy in 1956. I might be the oldest person here to have Bill work on their car. When he did my car, the original "lil Bat" was under construction in his shop. He has always been my hero. We were both in the 1958 Autorama when he debuted the "lil Bat". It was black before scallops.
I have a 57 Chevy Sedan Delivery that he chopped, custom hood skin, dual frenched anntenas, shrouded lakes pipes,,,, painted and scalloped by him also for multiple mag articles. I will have to post some pics.
I'll never forget the time that you drove it out to the HAMB drags....I about had a wreck. It was on my "want to see some day" list. Love all of the kustom detail that was done to your wagon. Very kool! Oh, I about had a stroke when you drove it to Dewey. You have a very kool ride. Happy Trails, Mick
Bill Hines originally built the Golden Nugget '34 roadster more than 50 years ago. Larry and Sandy Jordon recently restored it to the form it was in when it appeared at the '58 Autorama, using the rebuilt Nailhead, and many of the original parts, including the grille and the '56 Lincoln Continental wheel covers. The trophy it won in 1958 was displayed with the car, and is now joined by the Meguiar's Preservation Award. The ch***is for this car was built by the Ionia Hot Rod Shop. Cudos to them.
Very COOL stuff guys!! Is he still alive. I sure hope so!! He is SO great!! and a super nice guy from what I've seen of him. Are there any more pics of his work on here?
Damn I miss that car!!!! Bill did an amazing job on that chop for sure, and thank you for the compliment on the poncho. And by the way does anyone know what happend to it, and the new owner. Buzz Bomb
Thanks, had a blast on that trip. I just added the wagon rear bumper gaurds, modified to fit a car bumper, and a West Coast Kustoms plaque mounted on the rear bumper that I got at a swap meet to restore it like the above picture. I also put together a set of original Lancer caps awhile ago as that is what it had on its first showing. Thanks to Rikster for posting the pics.
Agreed please post some new pics. I have not seen the wagon since it sold. I did not realize it was local now I am surprised I have not seen you prowling the streets.
My dad spent alot of hours and days helping Bill do all the work on the 57 when it was his. He loved that car. Thanks for showing it.
Bill Hines sets the bar pretty high everyone that builds a custom. If ever you get a chance to meet him, or even better see him doing his magic, you better go out of your way to go and do it. Thanks for pics. Thanks Bill!!!
I have driven it across country multiple times already, BTT50's, Roundup, Viva, KKOA,,,, Have only had it out to cruise nights a couple times. I have posted these pics before but thought they were cool enough to do again.
I have been trying to get over there for the show and really wanted to get to the last Paso but my schedule has just not worked out in the past. Shooting for it this year.
Hi Everyone, Bill Hines is an amazing artist! Here is 2 more photos of him at the 2009 KKOA Salina event. Was pretty interesting to watch the gang chop this Ford coupe down.. duane (NM Sandrail)
I was going through some of my magazine stash this afternoon and found this. Uncle Bill in 1981. Interview by Chalo Lafuente for Technical Lowrider. RodP
Can anyone remember and/or put their hands on a magazine article that featured Bill Hines chopping a 48 Ford Convertible?? A really well presented "how to" on cutting the top bows and allowing them to lift and retract properly. I think it was about 5 years ago.
